Do i need a second operating system to use virtual pc or qemu.
Do i need a second operating system to use virtual pc or qemu.
No, you can install the same OS you're on inside qemu/vpc/vmware/virtualbox.
At least you can try it, no guarantees that it works.
Does vpc come with operating systems or free dos or anything.
You can download freedos from their homepage.
Would installing freedos with virtual pc replace xp or will it show up on the list of operatingsystemsi want to load up when i start up the computer because i don't want freedos showing up on the list of operating systems. I only have 1 oprating system.
Every OS you install inside a virtual environment is fully contained in this
environment so your host OS is not changed. You need to load vpc
(which requires booting XP here) in order to start the client OS.
Thanks but would it show up on the list of operating systems.
No, why? It's contained.
Will their be anything special i will have to do to install as i have found the old vpc 2004 on microsofts download section. Will i have to restart my computer or anything like that and if i am running an operating system with vpc and it tells me to reset the computer will it restart the main operating system. Is vpc as hard to install as an operating system as i have never installed one before.
The client OS shutting down has no effect on your host OS.
Installing an OS inside a virtual machine is similarly "hard"
as installing it on a real pc.
