R.I.P. ... What now? Is there ANY other good (not crashing, cert-error-free, ublock-compatible) browser for XP but FF 52.9esr ?

BUT you can still download and install mypal, right? So all's good, a dead browser for a dead OS 😀

1. No, binaries are gone for some licensing trouble with the PaleMoon people.
2. Dead browser, dead OS ... like Vogons? I thought everything here is for dead stuff, that's why i'm here. Apart from my android mobile, my XP computer is the only device i own for going online. It isn't dead (yet), maybe somehow Zombie. My goal is, to keep it alive and use it as everyday computer as long as possible. So far, this worked fine.

Regarding the recommended browsers: Thank you, zyga64. The Chromium does not run at all. I've tried basilisk before and use it already for streaming (see my old posting). This one seems to be the only one that can handle h.265 codec. But (there's always a "but") the page https://rtfreesoft.blogspot.com/search/label/serpent is a little confusing to me. I'm no techie and can't even tell the difference between basilisk (=old name for) serpent (?) and NewMoon (=XP-PaleMoon?), resp. the advantage of each. Anyway, basilisk seems to work best.

edit: oh fck, i mean "Serpent works best", sorry.

To be honest I didn't tested it myself on Windows XP.
But about a week ago I set up Vista x86 SP2 (with necessary updates and C++ runtimes) and 360 Chrome (v13) works the best of all three (MyPal, NewMoon and 360 Chrome).
With Core2 Duo E6320 and 3GB ram I was more than satisfied - super smooth browsing, even youtube 720p was possible without frame drops.
Maybe you'll have better luck with this build ? https://msfn.org/board/topic/182993-360-extre … foxie-versions/

I would recommend using roytam1's New Moon 27 (NM27) or New Moon 28 (NM28), depending on your hardware. The former is better for slower machines, the latter is better for more powerful machines as it is less problematically with the modern web.

Personally I use NM27 (SSE2) for years, f.e. on an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with Intel Core 2 Duo T5600, Intel GMA 950 and 1 GiB RAM.

Please note the following sources:

This really burns my bacon.

I guess the BSD maintainers and everyone else who said palemoon devs are toxic was on to something.

Haha... Matt A. Tobin hasn't been banned for nothing on MSFN (several times). His very rude attitude is simply disgusting. I've read many of his posts in several forums and in my opinion this guy has serious mental problems, I was always asking myself "What the hell is wrong with him?". He always insults all the locals and is not able to communicate in a somewhat normal way.

Yes, 360ChromePortable_11.0.2031_rebuild_4_ungoogled_XP_x86_SP2.zip runs.

@soggi: I've tried ...
basilisk55-win32-git-20210911-e0dae4deb-xpmod.7z and
palemoon-28.10.4a1.win32-git-20211002-ba47fad4d-uxp-71e99f28a-xpmod.7z
... from your page. Both work.

Currently I'm using:
MyPal 28 for general surfing - no issues but on ebay - they (resp. MyPal) drop my entries: Clic "send" = entry vanished.
FF 52.9 with spoofed UA (version 99 or so) for ebay. CPU load is at 100% all the time (guess due to javascript).
Serpent 52.9 for streaming. The only one that does https://www.zdf.de/live-tv with clean sound, although it drops frames (weak CPU?).

Now it will take some time to find out if the new versions are better. Thanks to both of you for the links!

You‘re welcome!

There are new builds released every week by roytam1, especially of NM27, NM28 and Serpent 52.

Long time no hear... I forgot to deliver an update for this thread.
After 3 months surfing here and there i can confirm: NO ISSUES with NM28, works like a good browser on a modern OS (should).
Ah, and: Happy 2022!

It's never too late for good news 😀

Actually, why exactly is this a bad thing? Seems Feodor2 managed to backport Rust and is now using FF68 as a base for MyPal. While the GUI may suck depending on your taste, the ability to render and access more modern web sites or use WebExtensions may prove to be a game-changer for XP users, no?

Still using XP x64 on my relatively powerful Xeon X5690 48 GiB workstation with 1.6 TB SSD and 54 TiB RAID-6. The inability of MyPal and New Moon to properly render certain modern pages has become a serious pain. So if Feodor2 manages to create a more modern FF-based browser for XP, then I'm all for it. And I would even want to encourage roytam1 to jump on the bandwagon to create a New Moon browser based on Feodor2's work.

Granted, his build doesn't work for me on XP x64 right now, but I'm still looking forward to it!

You're right, it may have been a blessing in disguise. I've been using the first release of MyPal 68 for a month and a half and have been impressed with it. Very few problems, despite the hacks done to make it run in Win 2000. Only ocassionally a tab will crash/freeze. There is a newer release now but I havent tried it yet.

The default GUI layout can be reconfigured to have normal title/menu bars, among other options. The only downside to the new MyPal seems to be a higher memory footprint. Not a big deal unless you're trying to multitask with 1GB or less.

I just tested latest Mypal 68.12.5 beta and I have problems with BSOD in win32k.sys. It triggers quite easily after a few minutes of browsing, always at the same address. According to suggestion of other user at MSFN I disabled multiproces in about:config so only one instance of mypal.exe is running and BSOD didn't appear yet. I was just able to crash mypal silently itself after 16-20 tabs opened with max mem utilize about 1.5GB. But is seems useble some way.

For the win32k.sys BSOD I suspect maybe a race condition in some calls e.g. on graphics driver? My system has nvidia GTX 670 while a friend use ATI and he's not getting BSOD even with multiproc. So to collect more info, could those with BSOD could you post what kind of VGA you have?
