An original Audigy card with daughter board arrived today. Going to put it in my upper end Win 98 system. I think this will complete that system!

These cards were inside. I don't know what purpose is that board plugged in the edge of the motherboard for. Maybe someone with more knowledge will give the info about that. Is there a chance this battery would leak? I would like to build this PC with an originally installed SCSI ISA card. Do SCSI to SD card adapters exist?

What does the daughter board do?
Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

Yes, but they're way more expensive than IDE to Compact Flash adapters.

Looks like it saves you blowing a whole $2.99 on a 3.5mm stereo jack to two RCA phono adapter 🤣 .... and some other stuff.
Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

If it's like the Live! it has SPDIF IN and OUT (the RCA connectors), MIDI IN and OUT and DIGITAL DIN (I recall that some Creative Speakers used that).
That little card that plugs into mainboard is cache card option added to your NCR computer. Very nice to have.

On a computer spree: a Toshiba Satellite Pro 400CDT (has a missing battery cover and the power switch got shifted, but it'll be fun to fix it).
Seller's photos:
Also, no HDD, but it has the bracket and screws for it, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get it to look original (OS-wise) when powering it on.

Today's arrivals, a what appears to be NIB Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick:
And another Audigy 2 ZS:
Nice. Got a Sidewinder myself and an Audigy 2ZS years ago. The Sidewinder pairs well with Flight Simulator 98.

A couple days ago the CF to IDE adapter came, and then yesterday the cf card arrived. Yesterday afternoon I installed Windows 98SE and didn't get much farther than that.

That looks like the Monoprice model, right? I bought 5 of those a couple months ago because they went on sale for $3 each. Haven't tried them yet. How is it working?

No it was the Syba model, wish I knew they could be had for cheaper than $10 each. Like I said I only got around to install Windows 98SE but it seems to more or less fine so far. Though at first I couldn't make the win98 folder under dos but then I reformated the partition and then it magically worked. And that's the thing fdisk did recognize it as fat32 so there was no good reason for it not to work the first time.

How do you guys handle Win9x and pagefiles on CF/SD storage solutions?

SiS 315 128MB AGP Video Grpahics Card VGA / S-Video
This is the card for my Abit VP6 because my cards are too good for it 🤣
only basic gaming acceleration features but this box is for music production with vintage software/hardware
and basic low res visuals.
This my idea of entry level AGP 2X 4X support.
Will certainly be using my vga to dvi adapter to hook up to the tv at times but i got a nice digital control monitor from dell now so i can mainly use an old picture tube.
it was 1/3 the price of the last 128mb card i got but this isn't an ATI and the 6600 GT is just too fancy for the old girl thats going into my Prescott PC to see if its actually shot.

Would that be a good tween machine?
I think it would be MUCH more apple-newbie-friendly.
Was in town for a medical appointment today so of course checked out the local thrift shop too. Not very optimistic, but this time it was my lucky day:
Dell AT102W, ISO variant of the legendary AT101W. Alps Black switches (silent, tactile) and great build quality.
Oh, and I actually prefer ISO 😉
For the grand price of EUR 2.50, including the USB adapter.
I have this exact same DELL keyboard in a cupboard somewhere. Came with a GX110 I once bought, I think. I want to use it with my XPS D333 but it is in horribly dirty and yellowed condition. I am honestly too scared to open it up and restore it. But I should. It's a damn solid keyboard..
