Hi, had a look around online for this Chaintech board and can't find a copy with a decent CPU jumper page.

I want to use a K6 but half the manual's gone - does anyone have a good copy of this page / do you know what settings to use for 200+ K6/K6-2 chips?

Really would appreciate help here, haven't used these boards before and I don't want to blow it up

Check the jumpers on page 15 (labeled 9) and 16 (labeled 10) in the manual. This is all you should need to setup your K6.

Set the voltage accordingly to your CPU, then set the FSB and finally set the multiplier.

You can even guess what the settings were by looking at the pattern for the multiplier : it increases by 0.5x for each jumper settings so it's easy to assume that the remaining settings are also steps of 0.5x.

As for the FSB there are some that are already documented above. You can see 66MHz and 75MHz settings, you could find the rest by trial and error. For the voltage it may be harder and more dangerous for the hardware ...
But anyways like I said the same settings are listed before in a decorrelated way.

Sorry to bring back this thread again, my CPU arrived today and I hit a stumbling block whilst following the configuration pages. I'd really appreciate some help with this.

Issue: I'm not sure if the 'zero' marks the orientation or not, if not then both the core voltage pages contradict each other (e.g 2.2 and 2.8 are mixed up).

I've got a K6-2 350AFR, if the 'zero' is an orientation mark then aren't these the correct settings?

(JUMPER WITH ‘0’ = FIRST IN THE LIST)

2.2v core = JP7 OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN, OPEN, OPEN

3.3v I/O = JP3 OPEN

3.5x multiplier = JP4 OPEN, OPEN, OPEN

99mhz bus = (100) JP6 OPEN, OPEN, OPEN

The info on the pages is the same but for some reason the images of the jumper blocks on the second page are flipped vertically. The 'zero' refers to the VID0 jumper and in your case I would stick with the orientation that is printed on the first page with the VID0 at the bottom.
Thus:
2.2v core = JP7 OPEN, OPEN, OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN

Had a look over the board, here's what I've found.

The jumper block for JP7 actually has numbers for orientation.

In terms of orientation the misprint was the closest, pretty annoying but I guess it's been a learning experience

So based on those findings, if I'm right, then the jumper settings for the 350AFR should be:

(JUMPER WITH ‘0’ = FIRST IN THE LIST)

2.2v core = JP7 OPEN, OPEN, OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN

3.3v I/O = JP3 OPEN

3.5x multiplier = JP4 OPEN, OPEN, OPEN

99mhz bus = (100) JP6 OPEN, OPEN, OPEN

That should do the trick. Nice board, btw... deserves a K6+ cpu @ 550 or 600 MHz.

Thanks, was thinking to go with those chips but I left them for later down the line. Wanted to make sure it boots and it does!

First thing on the agenda is to replace my jerry-rigged heatsink and get an actual Socket 7 cooler 😁

Thanks for all the help!
