I have an SiS 530 board, labeled "5MSM". Only hit on google, it appears to be a "super power". So... generic.

I'm curious if anyone knows anything on this board? I'm wanting to stick a K6-2+ in it. I'm kinda curious if I could flash a bios from a similar looking board (I believe Gigabyte had one?). I'd be afraid of bricking it though and I have no way of burning the chip outside the board (I believe the BIOS chip is the big one in the bottom corner).

It's currently setup with a K6-2 366, 96MB of PC66 SDRAM, and a PCI 8MB SiS 6326. I was kinda surprised to find an option in the BIOS to disable the onboard, I've read of other SiS 530 boards where you had to jump through hoops to do so.

I attached the ebay listing pic, I don't feel like dragging it out just to snap a pic at the moment.

This site says "The latest BIOS A.4 of SuperPower 5MSM motherboard (released on November 28, 1999) supports the new AMD K6-2+": https://drivers-mydrivers-com.translate.goog/ … x_tr_pto=nui,sc
But they don't have it freely available for download. I haven't yet found a source for that BIOS.

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

Your motherboard is a SuperPower (Hope Vision / San Li) SP-5MSM or just 5MSM.

The BIOS "A.4" is also available from my website -> https://soggi.org/motherboards/superpower.htm. UniFlash 1.40 (or later) is recommended to update the BIOS, it is also available on my website -> https://soggi.org/motherboards/bios-update-fl … h-utilities.htm.

BTW let me know if you need a Mod-BIOS, then I'll have a look into this.

BTW2 maybe you can add some high-res pics, so I can make a spec-page for the board. I need the markings on the both chips above the SiS530 NB and of the ESS sound chip (including near pin connectors), an image of the outgoing I/O ports would be also great.

kind regards

Thx for the fast answer! Quality is good, but - except the ESS chip and the I/O - not completely the right chips (but thx anyway). I need a pic of the two chips between SiS530 NB and I/O (one of them is marked with "ICS"[the PLL], the other one should be the TAG RAM).

And if you could make a super vertical all-in-one overseight pic of the motherboard (w/o CPU, Cooler and bracket) on a white background - this would be even greater (here's an example for what I mean: https://soggi.org/motherboards/abit/AV8-3rd-Eye.htm).

thx in advance and kind regards

Let me know if it's possible!

And as said above, if you need a Mod-BIOS...I can try to add some compatibility/functionality/performance...just let me know!

kind regards

Oh that looks familiar, I think I had one of these a long time ago but I accidently broke the socket's plastic tabs so I ended up dumping it.
