I'm about to put together a Socket A Voodoo 3 system using an AthlonXP 2200+. I am torn between setting it up as a Win 9x system or a Win 2K system. Would I lose out on anything by going 2K? I guess A3D may be a concern but how much do GLIDE games and A3D overlap really?

Glide only games with no alternative renders? Not much overlap there.

But do note that there are some games that look best on Glide and sound best on A3D despite having alternative renderers and sound providers. Unreal and its engine derivatives for one. Descent 3 is another example.

Voodoo3 has Direct3D and OpenGL support under Windows 2000 so there shouldn't be a cause for concern 3d-wise. It's the Voodoo2 that loses out on W2K
