Hi guys, I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place, plz move the thread if it is not.
I was making an XP / 98SE dual boot, and the partition and its folders can be viewed correctly in DOS, XP, and safe mode in 98SE.
but when I view the content in a folder in Win98, for one folder with contents, it turns empty (no hidden files), another folder all its subfolder & file names are corrupted with unrecognized symbols.
It's a 60G HDD and the partition layout as follows:
Win98SE, 2G, primary + active, FAT32 (code 0B)
WinXP, 13G, primary, FAT32 LBA (code 0C)
Data, 40G, Extended (code 0F) with 1 logical, FAT32 LBA (code 0C) - problems occurred in this partition.
I've no idea what's going wrong. The folders are copied from USB disk in XP, I suspect its about different OS handling the same FAT32 partition in tiny different ways? but DOS and safe mode 98 all shows correctly.
The win98 is a fresh install, the previous installed 98 by me DO had the same problems right after installation but later turned OK, with no extra actions taken, just drivers installation, even no software installed. I even have the Ghost image for that working one, but I'm unable to find any difference between the 2. Ghost will backup the partition tables in MBR, so it could be a partition problem I guess?
