154mm square between fixing holes would make the diagonal about 218mm. Given the shape of the fan, 218mm will be a bit bigger than the diameter of the blades, so maybe a 200mm fan? Maybe the 230mm is the outside diagonal from one fixing to the other.

I have a 12 year thermaltake case that has a large fan in side panel. I am now looking for a new replacement for that fan. Original specs of the case say it is suppose to be 230mm fan but no measurement I have measured from the fan is 230mm. Spacing of the installation holes is only about 154mm both horizontally and vertically. I was looking at modern 230mm fans and came across bitfenix spectre pro, but it ended up beind 230mm x 200mm size and there was no info on spacing of the holes anywhere. Not even on the manufacturers site so there is no way of being sure if it would fit.

Anyone has any idea of a new fan I could buy as replacement that I could be sure of that it would fit in those holes in the side panel before ordering it? I just dont want to end up with something I cant install to it.

Case is Thermaltake VH6000BWS Armor+ from 2009 or 2010

Was thinking the same @snufkin, that the 230mm is measured diagonally across the mounting holes, even though the fan housing is only 200mm. Tried a search under various Tt fan codes...TT-2020, A2020L-12S without much luck.

However, according to the old Tt US site - https://web.archive.org/web/20100328092055/ht … 41&ID=1955#Tab0 - the proper part no. is AF0047, and is compatible with your case. Try a search using that instead. Other brands could be a problem without knowing the exact position of the mounting lugs on the fan housing, so props to Cooler Master on that one.

Thanks. I measured the distance between holes diagonally to be about 217mm as well, so those values are pretty close, so maybe the mounting holes are made for 200mm fan while the 230mm numbers comes from the fact that the circle goes outside of square formed from locations of the holes.

Thank you for searching for me. I did try find AF0047 on ebay and in any EU shops online but so far I havent had much luck but you are probably correct about model number since google search came up with very similar looking fans with that.

200 mm sized fans never really did have a standard hole distance mounting pattern from manufacturer to manufacturer. I think the Cooler Master ones fans of that size have 2 different bolt hole patterns.

(Edit: I missed that link above to Cooler Master fan and that's what I mean)

When I have a chance I can take some measurements and pics of what I'm talking about but I only have fans in those large sizes from Cooler Master and Corsair but none from Thermaltake.
