Any M17x R2 users out here? Not sure this counts as vintage yet but figured it was old enough to give it a go!

I've got an M17x R2 in really nice condition sans battery and my OCD is kicking in and I just need to have one with a battery attached but all the chain online and local battery suppliers seem to be out of them and not a single one has shown up on eBay in the last few months. The Dell / Alienware forums also recommend the W075J as being compatible but they're equally hard to find.

Has anyone managed to source any of these old Alienware batteries anywhere?

Where are you based? There seem to be a few W075J around, e.g. : https://www.laptopbatteryexpress.com/AlienWar … 17xr4-w075j.htm and https://www.subtel.co.uk/Battery-for-Alienwar … =alienware%2017

But those are listed for the R3 and R4, and I'm not sure the connector is in the right place for your R2. The connector on the W075J is opposite the point on the angled side, where your photo shows it off to the side. OTOH, other forums seem to be fairly sure that W075J will work.

It's all very confusing - I assume the safest (despite what the Alienware forums suggest) is to go for the original F310J part. The website you linked: https://laptop-battery.org.uk/img.php?img=100 … -b_1.jpg&size=b despite having a co.uk address is part of a big Hong Kong-based Chinese chain of battery resellers all operating different web stores but under the same 2-3 companies . I've reached out to most of the ones that turn up on Google and despite showing they have stock and 'call for a quote!' they don't actually carry any stock...
