BIOS needs to support it since it is some Pentium II core inside. Have two boards and one overdrive but cannot test them since it is lacking its stock cooler. Still need to find some replacement or another way for cooling before testing. I doubt that it will work on any of them since both BIOS versions are from 1996 and the overdrives first appeared in 1997 as far as I know.

The first one unfortunately missing all the connection cables for the AIW 9600Pro making it pretty useless. At least it wasn't that expensive. Didn't test any of it yet.

I am also in that situation, and found the cables fetch more than a 9800Pro .. wonderful.

When I get round to it, I am going to go the route of stuffing jumper wires in the socket and then casting a plug shell around it with hot glue or epoxy and then breaking out at least a single VGA port by trial and error. The only cable pinout online for them is for the version with DVI, maybe that offers clues, maybe it doesn't.

I have seen one for sale on an almost local marketplace, too far to drive, and not sure if seller will ship, which might have the cable with it, and I have been wondering if it's worth the bother/expense to get hold of it just to have the cable to test and get pinout from.

edit: oh wait is yours the DVI version?? Not sure, there were 3 versions of 9600AIW

As far as I could find out it's just two VGA ports. Not worth to hunt for a cable IMHO.
If you find a pinout let me know. Also thought about that jumper cable thing, but fiddling out the correct pinout I don't have the time for and it's not really worth it I suppose.

Very nice Pentium board. I love the early era Pentium stuff, too bad there is not much of it around, at least, not where I live. I guess the market for early Pentiums was quite small back in the day. I guess most people opting for the later 486 PCI (which was probably cheaper to manufacture) and then later switching over to the socket 7 systems, skipping this kind of hardware.

I've been wanting to get a Socket 4 board as well... If for nothing else than to test the Socket 4 CPU I received in a scrap lot a few years ago. I'm just not willing to pay the price for the motherboards when they do pop up.

Will see if it was worth it when I got some time to test it all.
The mainboards are quite dusty with some connectors severely crashed and also some caps damaged at the first look.
The AIW is almost useless without proper cables. Asked the seller if he still has them but he didn't make me much hope. Said he would have a look though.
The two ISA graphic cards are a half megabyte Headlead something and a .... ET4000 with 1 MB (ISA card with passiv heatsink, yay 😀
The other cards, ok, lets not count them.

Where exactly do you come from in Krautland if I may ask?

My first socket 4 board, a SI5PI AIO in NOS condition, cost 50 EUR. Bought it in 2020. Don't know if it has ever seen some voltage. At least not in my home.
Didn't pay that much for this recent one, including the CPU. As said before, sometimes luck is on your side.
Besides this, I don't find the socket 4 platform that exciting because it is too limited CPU wise. You only have the choice between a P60 and a P60. P66 are quite rare and a socket 4 overdrive ... let's not talk about that. At least there's one on ebay these days but I doubt it will be sold. Too expensive and also one pin (no so clean) resoldered.

Due to price premium, socket 4 put itself in the high end workstation type of market. Same folks who were buying PPro a couple of years later, or 486 in 1990. Volume didn't seem to ramp much before the platform was killed.

Works fine in W98 DOS and pure DOS.

Drivers can be a pain as there's a lot available, some will just not work, others will just BSOD, I got my drivers here - Ensoniq / Creative AudioPCI - I use the Creative audioPCI type.

Having several old-PCs it is possible that I already have a similar or identical card, these cards I use on PC generation Pentium-PII-PIII, as I wrote it would go on Siemens with PII 350, and in that PC as soon as I decide which disk to use that is a IDE of about 20GB or less or a CF of a few GB (via adapter), so if I use the disk of 20 or less I will use Win98 (or something like that, for example 95 or ME), otherwise if I use the CF with less than a GB I will use Win95 but I will be able to change card by putting one with DOS and Win3.X.
I will try to download the drivers from where you indicated, they will surely be useful to me, if you are interested in old motherboards and want to see the ones that I have repaired or that I have tried to repair you can find them here:

Rereading what you wrote for the drivers, it occurred to me that I had the Ensoniq PCI card on a PC, I bought it new about 25 years ago, and I believe it was one of the last ones produced by Ensoniq, before Creative took over the company.

Yeah, basically a MX420 replacement but with more memory and I believe faster memory clocks as well.

Received this K8NF4G-SATA2 today. GeForce 6100 chipset, 2 x SATA2, PCI-E, Socket 754.

This is my first 754 board, but I might also buy an nForce4 board, as, although that will probable only support AGP and SATA (not SATA2), it might be one of the better chipsets for testing AGP cards, and in my other thread, I've been told NF4 overclocks better. This is primarily for testing my s754 CPUs, but when that is done, I'll probably keep the best performer in a long term build.

Now gotta go through all my RAM and find the best 1GB DDR sticks (or buy a pair if I have no 1GB !!)

Just had a to replace a memory module in one of them and it booted right up. Both seem to be working just fine. I have one set up right now using a compact flash as the main drive attached to a 44pin 2.5" IDE cable and the disk on chip to store the install files and drivers.

I found an original Sound Blaster at e-waste. It's missing it's chips and the volume dial was broken off but the PCB is still in great shape.

And I bought a Zalman VGA cooler off ebay. I still don't know which card will get it.

A good buy! I saw this listing, but did not realize it was for two devices.
Audioport has a Yamaha OPL chip and Sound Blaster support, but IIRC SB works only in Windows. Please keep us posted on testing results.
