Hello all,

I'm trying to get a Promise SATA 300 TX4 card to work in my ASUS P5-99B motherboard.

The card's BIOS initiates and looks for drives, but doesn't find any and complains that the system's CMOS isn't configured correctly.

I was using a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 card, which worked just fine. But I want the better airflow and increased transfer speeds of SATA II.

The card's manual says that it may be detected as a SCSI device, so I tried setting that in the motherboard's boot order, but still nothing.

Is there anything else I should try?

Try a different slot.

There aren't going to be any Windows drivers for that card before XP/2000

Does that mean 98SE won't run properly?

Also, I looked through the manuals again and noticed the card is PCI version 2.3, but my motherboard only has PCI 2.1.

Might that be the issue?
