received the new 5.25" 'pro' panel prototype in beige/black colors from the 3d printing company,...
it looks and feels great now, very sturdy... only took 10+ iterations.. heh.. but now I am really happy with the result
will test further, and then order more

besides beige/black, what color schemes would make sense ?

the fine details now available to 3dprints are really amazing
this almost looks like it's molded 😮

Black/white would look great on a black case I think.

Testing both panels, seems to fit and work fine.
It works in single display setup (with only display on the panel), as well as dual display mode (display on both mccake and panel)

5.25" Black panel with white font -> will have this printed as well

Since I don't see a pin layout of the wavetable header on the McCake, I don't know what the orientation is. I assume it would hang below the card, and thus would need a adapter cable from the CMI8330 to the McCake. Is this a fair assessment?

To get an idea how do they look on my systems, I used your images and did a quick photoshop mod on 3 of my system photos. I also tried the grey/Beige too as an example to see how does it blend in with the rest.

3.5" beige and black panels in stock

So here's an embarrassing question....my display, when oriented like everyone elses, is upside down. Screen on left. Buttons on right. The screen display is upside down. I can't run it the other way or the holes won't line up with the drive cage. I can't desolder the display and flip it over.

Is there a way to do this in software?

Ordered mine today. I have been playing around with a Pi inside a retro box for a while for different things, including internet over serial. It would be cool if you could bring out either 1 Pi USB port or at least some spare UART pins in a future version, so that it could be used for other things in addition to wavetable, if the buyer wanted to make those modifications.

I think so! Maybe I can tie an i2c controlled uart on there and get it to work. Thanks.
