Will EDO RAM work on a Sound Blaster?
Or more generally spoken: is EDO RAM backwards compatible to FPM-only systems?

"RAM" & "Sound Blaster" reminds me that ERR014 thing when trying to load AWEUTIL with some /EM:xxx option.
Still haven't found a solution to that...
Would like to see my 2x 4MB SIMMs in action using DOS4AWE (another thread here in the forum).

Yeah, they may not work in AWE32 - 60ns EDO RAM vs 80ns FPM RAM as recommended by Creative specification. One way to find out...

Yesterday a friend of mine gave me these cards. He used (and loved) them in his Pentium 4-based PC back then, so didn't want to throw them out, instead, asked me to take care of them. 😀

• ATI Radeon 9500, 64MB
• Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ES

All the 8 pipelines can be enabled on the Radeon, so basically it can operate as a 9500 Pro without glitches or artifacts.

I haven't seen EDO memory in 30 pin SIMM's, is that a thing? In my experience a 32 meg, 72 pin EDO module works fine in a SIMCONN adapter if you can't find 60NS or faster FPM.

Yeah, they were used in some samplers.

I swear, I have the most bi-polar luck. I find nothing interesting, or something is already gone by the time I can afford it for months on end, and then I have a single day where I find an amazing deal. I spent $60 on all this.

Yeah, I managed to find one of the world’s worst keyboards while also having one of the best.

Yeah, I found a PS/2 generation 4 Model M. It even has an IBM manufacturer sticker on the bottom.

Lucky for me, it cleaned up incredibly well.

I also picked up an ensoniq VIVO, which is cool too. Don’t know what I’ll do with it though.

There's a 1kB space invaders for that, which will blow your mind... more for the "how the hell did they do it in 1kB??" than the game being the bestest arcade conversion evarrrrr though. Shame that 3D Monster Maze needs the 16kB expansion, that's the other one that pushed the envelope. Also there's a music demo... but you have to play the track externally.

Hmmm I'll have to inspect the Micron mid-tower I've got, it comes close to that description... mine doesn't have a retail model name/number though it was a Hughes subcontracted unit for a USAF imaging project apparently.

I'll need to get a composite mod in there at some point so that I can actually use it, but researching that leads to a bunch of pictures, and few actual guides on how to actually put it together.

Growing up as a teen in the 80s I remember the Sinclair 1000 being a laughable computer. It's cool for the collection (especially in original box), but back in those days not a whole lot was done with them other than curiosity. Even with its 16K memory expansion module it was mostly ignored. A childhood friend gave me his when he got his Coleco Adam (another disaster of a system, but also interesting) and that 1000 just sat in a drawer. I tried programming on the thing, but that keyboard was just unusable. Anyway, it was back in the days when it seems like every company was trying their hand at computers.

Now I am going to bring out my magical staff to ward off attacks by Sinclair computer enthusiasts. This was just my experience in the town I lived in. I know there are some who adored the 1000, but I just thought it was poorly designed. This if course is coming from a former Commodore 64 snob. 😉

British kids with nostalgia for their Sinclairs are valid, just like saying that the ZX line of computers are provably garbage because of their cheapness is valid. But hey, that cheapness was a good thing for a lot of people.

Bought a ti4200 locally for 20$ sight unseen but it turned out to be something a bit more awesome 😁

A Gainward ti 4600. Im unsure of the exact model because someone had peeled backside stickers off. 300 or 325mhz core and 650mhz ram clocks.

Unfortunately the fan doesn't work, it slides out of the bearing. Heated fast to 80c in driver installation with case fan blowing to it..

Eh who would have thought that was a 4200. I would have spotted the 4600 straight away.

Pretty sure he knew fan was broken, the card didn't have literally any markings what it was and he didn't seem to be too interested in tech. He also sold me the picture below with fan problems as well. Should unlock to full 9800 pro with little luck when I have the time to check.
