Hi, I am looking for a thin client for 98SE (well the IGEL H700C is on the larger side I suppose) however from the looks of it it can potentially house a PCI GPU, wondering if anyone has any experience with it:

Wanted to ask before picking one up.

Thanks.

Googling trying to run Win98SE leads no where good on the IGEL's. https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/Igel/ud/ud … 00C/win98.shtml
If it wont run on a M300 doubt it will run on H700....
Maybe a Wyse VX0 ?? https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/wyse/vx0/win98.shtml

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

If you want to use PCI card look for `Fujitsu Siemens Futro S400`: https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/Futro/s400/

It has the same CPU and chipset as HP T5720 (tested by Phil) but it is IMO a better choice because:
* Case is big enough to install one of these chinese GeForce FX5500 PCI
* You can install CF card inside, additional adapters are not needed (16 GB Sandisk card didn't work for me, but 4 GB Transcend was fine)

CPU performance is on level with P3 or Athlon 1100, so it should be more than enough for games released till 2002/3.

Pentium 4 2.4C, ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe, 1 GB RAM, GF FX5700 128 MB AGP, SB Audigy, Chieftec GPS-400AA-101A, Win XP SP2
Celeron 400, Compaq Garry, 128 MB RAM, Voodoo Banshee, ALS100 Plus+, Compaq 200 W, Win 98SE

I've installed win98 on it, however I've experienced some issues:

1. integrated graphics driver was not working for me. Nothing else but direct3d worked, even that was buggy, so I had to use a different PCI gpu. Which btw, has to be low profile because the heatsink of the cpu is rather prohibiting
2. weird interrupt issues because I used a microdrive, philcomputerlab did a video about these. Literally sound would hang every few seconds, had to use CF cards instead.
3. no drivers for integrated sound, so you'll need a usb souncard with a simple DAC that win98 can understand. I used a Sabrent one, worked realtively okay.

The unit is more suited for a win2k build, let's face it.

Main: i3 10100f, rx5600xt, Radeon 7000/SbLive. Dual Win10/Win98 boot.
Retro Win98 PC: Pentium 3 500mhz, Voodoo 2/GF4ti.
MiniPCs: Shuttle XPC SN41G (winXP/98), Iwill ZPC64 (winXP/98), Igel M340C (win7).
And some laptops.
