Oh, I actually found 1.41 here: https://ardent-tool.com/video/1MB_Short_SVGA.html

I'll give that a go today! 😀

I too have been looking for the real bios version of 1.41 for an AST Bravo with built-in GD5422!

I tried to dump the in memory version of the TSR, thought seen as it starts with 0x55 0xAA it would work, but no luck.

time to acquire more AM27C010-200JC EPROM's for burning, cheers thanks!

Well, I ran that BIOS through the even/odd splitter and burnt it to an EPROM for my card... Sadly, it did NOT work: 'Eeeek, NO VGA!!' post beeps galore.

We've already more than established that my card is weird though, so maybe you'll have much better luck? Fingers crossed here! 😁

You said you ran the bios through the odd/even splitter. I'm assuming you mean you merged the odd/even files into one file?

I wonder what settings get saved in the XL93CS46 1024bit eeprom. 🤔

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Yes, that BIOS is in normal straightforward format - so I split it even and odd and copied it back /b even+odd, just as I've been doing so far with success. No dice on this BIOS for some reason though.

I've attached the file I built for reference, and the file it's originally built from.

I think that mini EPROM is for the VGA EDID or something similar. I could unsolder it and read it out if we're curious!?

Looking at those files...

06h6915.bin is a normal bios you should write to an eeprom.

bios1.41.bin is fubar.

Yeah.... You might want to read the whole thread from the start and you'll see why that is. Writing the first .bin to an EPROM will not work at all for this card. Might work great for other cards though!

My bad. That's annoying.

Yep same 256 EPROMS each time. 😀 Not sure about MCA, I'd think probably not.
