This is my temporary IBM computing area 😀 Temporary as in I will have to empty the room in a week so that decorators can come and paint walls (not the brick wall).

Aptiva is original aside from P 100MHz -> 166 MHz MMX and 2x32 MB RAM, Netvista is sort of a hot-rod: consists of MSI s1150 mATX system board and i7 4790 CPU, 16GB RAM, new PSU, GTX 1060 6 GB etc.
Monitor is Eizo UXGA (1600x1200), with several inputs so I can just swap between computers.
Still have to source beige IBM multimedia keyboard, I like them a lot.

Many 3Dfx and Pentium III-S stuff.

What kind of PSU do you have in that NetVista? SFX?

Regular size Chieftec 650W PSU, there was enough room but had to modify opening a bit and drill new holes for screws. Looks just like it was put there by IBM 😀

Interesting... Photos please? I may do just that myself. I know there is enough space to mount an ATX PSU horizontally, and drilling the holes is no big deal, but the metal seems a bit too thick to cut for a regular PSU - the power connector does not fit as is. What did you use for the job?

I'm also curious about what kind of drill bits you used and if you also tapped the holes. Is it steel or aluminum?

I have holes that I've been wanting to drill into some equipment and steel always gives me the most trouble.

I used regular angle grinder with steel cutting disc (drilled holes in the corners beforehand to have nice rounded corners).

Why tapping the holes? PSU has tapped screw holes already. Case is steel.

Yesterday I was about to reorganize my "computing area" ...wasn't inspiring enough really. Needs some drivers.

Welp, you're ready to host a Doom modem party man. Let me know when the invite goes out.

Can I come over some day? I'll bring along a six-pack. Or ten.

That is both glorious and equally terrifying. I am constantly battling at keeping my living space from getting cluttered with retro gear but they inevitability continue to outpace my ability to organize.

I live in a single bedroom apartment so my living room doubles as my office, electronics work bench, and general work area. I wish I had a separate room for all of my retro gear.

I feel your pain... every time I want to sort out my stuff I just give up after only a few minutes - it's just too much stuff... Will do it another time and years pass by 🤣

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

Plus 80s synthpop on blast..... just me?

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Seems like you've built yourself a nice lab with all that equipment. Could use some tidying up with all those computers, though.

Currently going portable with my "computing area" since my desktops are out of action at the moment.

Using a Toshiba Portege 7020CT and Windows 98 SE. To the left is also a Sony Mavica FD-75. happy0024.gif

Too many computers. But my ICL DRS M75 is rather cool.

Had to update the office/man cave and have gone vertical with shelving. Have also been getting into a lot of 8 and 16bit computers lately Commodores are a lot of fun.
