Can somebody please upload a D-Fend/DosBox settings file for Hell (the CDPower version) ?

Mine always hangs on the installation, when copying the very first file (sprite.pl).

I've tried DosBox 0.65 and 0.70.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried the following:

1. Copy contents of Hell CD-ROM to M:\install\CDPowerUK0397
2. Start DOSBox
3. At Z:> prompt, "mount d M:\install\CDPowerUK0397 -t cdrom"
4. It replies: "Subdirectory -- limited support"
5. "mount c H:\games"
6. "D:"
7. "install"

Again, it hangs on the following dialog

"Installing HELL:

File: SPRITE.PL"

I have never been able to get this game to work, back in 1997 when I had a 486, it erased my entire hard disk, IIRC.

Cute 😀 Maybe just to be safe only mount directories in dosbox that
don't contain vital data...
Anyways i don't know that game, you could play around a bit with the
dosbox.conf settings (disabling ems/xms, different cores), using loadfix
or something.
Maybe try some debugger-enabled build of dosbox (look in the dev forum
where to get one) to see if there's some odd file being opened.

It's not frozen, it's just sloooooooooooooooooooooooow! 😀

Set your cycles to max, start the installation and go have a beer, when you get back, it'll probably be done 😉

I went to sleep instead... but it worked.

I don't understand, what is the point of the 'supported games directory' if people don't post their settings like this?

It still stutters a lot, I want to see if I can't improve that.

Game itself worked fine for me on max cycles, no stuttering (or at least nothing I can recall), then again I have a rather high end system (Conroe E6600, I had dosbox in mind when I got it, and boy do those DOS games run fine 😀 )

I guess it's ironic how, in the end, you need a high end system to play a low end game...

And finally, I really don't think Hell is worth the trouble, I found it rather dull at the time...
