Last computer I remember them selling though was those Little Linux Laptop netbooks with 400Mhz MIPS CPU and a windowsish gui, about 12-13 years ago.

It's rumored the MasterCraft Pro line of hand tools is made with the old Sears Craftsman patterns/dies/machines but dunno how true that is.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I have a Dxr2 card somewhere, but the Creative DVD-ROM drive is missing, maybe it'll work with any drive...

Yes, the DXR2 will work with any DVD drive. I have mine working with a Samsung DVD/CD-RW drive in a Pentium MMX build. It also decodes video codex streamed from the hard drive.

CT is like hardware store, power tools and auto parts, automotive fluids and lubes, tires, pet food and such, sports, outdoors stuff, camping stuff, and some seasonal stuff thrown together. Unique to CT is fake money that you get with each purchases. Save up some of those to help with buying stuff.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

I had a few of people pop in but it wasn't a hugely successful stream. But I'd do it again.

Well, that's much better than I ever did - twice as good, actually. How do you do it? (scratches head)

Went through and cut out the unique Canadian Tire commercials and put them up on YouTube - links below. Also included is a bonus Radio Shack Canada ad for the Tandy 1000/RL and one for some tech gifts from K-Mart. Hopefully the links work.

Canadian Tire:

Radio Shack Tandy 1000/RL

K-Mart:

Thanks! While I don't remember those particular commercials, the character is memorable! Also, I just now remembered that when I do eventually go back to work, I left a sound-less Game Gear in the theatre workshop, so thanks for the reminder!

It's a tire/auto shop and hardware/dry goods store.... I think they gave up on groceries and large appliances but they've tried those out over the years too.... you can buy chips, sheets, new tie rod ends, a 3/16 fine thread nut, a bike, lego, pet food, a canoe... I dunno how the hell to describe the place really.

edit: I mean you can check it out yourself if you want at http://CanadianTire.ca

I don't know if they still have "Q", but there was a time where you could get food there too.

I finished cleaning & installing + configuring my new Pentium II 333. Very happy with the look of the case & the components inside:

Pentium II 333
ASUS P2L97
32MB RAM (I may increase this to 64MB)
Creative Soundblaster 32 (32MB RAM on order to turn this into a fully fledged AWE64)
Creative Riva TNT 16MB PCI graphics card
Creative Voodoo 2 12MB
Pioneer slot-loading CD player

Nice case! I like that also, it's boxy like a Volvo. Even better with that flat front panel on yours. Could be one of the first ATX cases.
I have this is OEM panel with badges. Inside there is ASUS XP55TVP4 and 200MHz P54C. Power supply fan is cooling the CPU.

Oh nice! I was surprised to see zero branding on the case but when I Google Osborne I do find similar examples to yours. None like mine however which is curious. Then again, the bottom panel is separate to the rest of the front panel so they probably swapped it out to give it a more business look since apparently it was originally a business PC.

I'm curious if this bug is present on a Blue Lightning IBM BL2 25/50 (33/66) type - how are you testing for it?

Bug manifested in my own code so I just came up with a solid minimal test case and added it to my bug testing routines. It's sort of funny that program to test CPU bugs actually found a new one, but in a code that wasn't supposed to do that.
Anyway, AFAIK the IBM chips are not based on Cyrix core but rather something IBM did (or more likely Intel on IBM behalf) - not even sure why they bothered. It's not like IBM couldn't just get the latest 486 from Intel, or clones from AMD.

If you have access to a working system with such CPU and can run an executable or two on it, drop me a PM.

Minor CR2032 surgery on a Compaq Prolinea 575 board.

After that I cleaned all the contacts, in the picture they are still 'blurry'.

Craigslist car ad that would be "No rust".... "ummm did you put up a picture of a different car, because that my friend is very rusty".... "Oh it's just surface rust, doesn't count."

Nasty. Understatement. I can see why you needed a hammer and WD40.

All you need now is to find a Volkswagen guy who is also into vintage computers. 😁

Played around with Versavideo last night, I need a longer composite cable. Might be tempted to record some stuff for YouTube using this setup. I'm kind of surprised how good a 486 can be at capturing video game footage from an actual NES.

This morning, shipped off an AT tower case I sold on e-bay and got lucky that someone was coming in to USPS because it would not fit the deposit box. Then ordered myself a 387 (actually a Green Math 4c87) for the Compaq - there's some things I have software wise I want to run on it that use and even require an FPU.

Wow, how did you find this thing? Magnet fishing in the canal? Dive on a 90s shipwreck? Dug out of a decades old mud slide?
