I followed through with this guide, on how to run KQ6 on an XP system. - (http://www.tawmis.com/collector/Games/KingsQuest/KQ6&XP.html)

And successfully got the game to run with VDMSound. Dosbox would not run the game for me. Everything starts out fine until starting the game. Everywhere appears to be black, but when walking the character to any part of the screen, it uncovers the "Blackness." I've attached an image to explain my problem visually.

Help?

You have to have your color depth set to 256 colors. You can do it through compatibility mode for the batch file.

Then you will need to set the color depth manually.

Right-click your desktop, open the properties, choose the "Settings" tab and choose something like "256 colours" or "8bit" in the "Colour quality" dropdown list. Then click OK.
