It's not just the difference in MHz but also shaders and texture units between a standard 6800 vs GT/Ultra.

1MB cache is supported and the chipset has a ton of features you can tweak. I would say it's the kind of board that's the best you can have, if you don't feel PCI bus to be "correct" for 486. 😉

It's not just the difference in MHz but also shaders and texture units between a standard 6800 vs GT/Ultra.

Oh I’m aware, the Gt will have a slightly higher fill rate due to the 4 extra pixel shaders and 1 vertex unit but I’m not worried about fill rates for this test.

The GT is just a slower clocked Ultra so I expect it to hit higher speeds, but the binned 6800 might have some surprising results.

Hey, thanks for the info! Nice to know it's a good board. I was looking for a good vlb board for some time now. I want to build a vlb based 486 with a dx2 cpu. For PCI based 486 I would go with a 5x86 AMD or Cyrix.

There is some interesting jumper config going on this board, not sure if I have seen that before. Looks a bit proprietary but it seems they at least had an attempt at making it easier to configure a 486 board. Nice find!

I haven't installed the PlexTools Professional right now. I'll check this and write an update, later. Regarding the RPC-1 Firmware I can provide some information:

First of all you'll need the original firmware since it contains an executable for flashing:

Download the file 760A107.exe and extract it to a folder using 7-Zip. The folder will contain 3 files:
eme_107.bin
PlexFirm.ini
PXFirm3.exe

Download 1_08Xrpc1.bin and copy it to the same folder:

Edit PlexFirm.ini and change entry FirmwareFileName to 1_08Xrpc1.bin.

Run PXFirm3.exe and flash the drive.

The Firmware 1_08Xrpc1.bin works on the IDE (Plextor PX-760A) and SATA (Plextor PX-760SA) version. I've done this myself and can confirm that it works. (The file name is a little bit misleading, it contains the RPC-1 patched latest firmware 1.07 for Plextor PX-760A and Plextor PX-760SA.)

I tried it, no post. I will try flashing a VLB bios into an eprom and see if anything happens. If I can get it working I'll make another thread for it in the video section.
