Hi all,
today I wanted to play some games on a Pentium II-333 machine. Everything was in good order yesterday but now it‘s dead. Plugged in the power cable and all but nothing.
So I tried another PSU, still nothing. Shorted out pin 13 & 14 on both PSU‘s and the fans worked.
Any thoughts?
By the way, I had the same problem on this PC before. Then I swapped the CPU and it worked again.

But I‘m reluctant to try that again - I do have a spare PII 333 though,

Cheers, Rob

Check mobo for shorts on power rails. Shorted capacitor might be tripping PSU overcurrent protection (which is a good thing, otherwise there would be a lot of smoke).

I don‘t know how to check that…but there definitely was no smoke!
Too bad I don’t have a spare slot 1 board, but I know someone who does.

Slot 1 board, bad capacitors are likely. Take a good photo of the area around the cpu and the majority of capacitors, I'd put money on that 😉

Well it‘s working again…Got another case (but the same PSU), swapped everything and presto.
I read something about a broken power switch, that‘s why I tried this option.
Funny, I wanted to use this particular case for quite a while now because it looks much better.
Well now I have it!
