I've recently introduced my 1998 built (PII with Voodoo 2 SLI) which isn't one of my most favoured machines.
But please find here one of my most loved ones, because I owned something similar with a Voodoo 5 5500 back then ... and I still love the voodoo 3 to 5 cards.
I was very sad when I had to abandon the Voodoo 5 because the next Gen HW didn't support AGP 2x any longer and driver support dried/died out when XP came out.

Here my year 2000 voodoo gaming machine:

Board: Medion 2000 Ver. 2 (MSI MS-6318 OEM), Apollo Pro 133A, mAtx
CPU: Pentium III, 1000MHz, FSB 133, Coppermine/EB, cooler with silent NB-Cooler/Fan
RAM: 512 MB (2x 256MB), D-RAM, PC-133U non-ECC, Samsung, M366S3253ETS-C7A
2D/3D-Grafik: 3Dfx Voodoo 5 5500, 64MB, AGP
Sound: Soundblaster Audio PCI 128, CT5880 (ES1371), onboard
HDD: Maxtor D740X-6L, 20GB IDE
ODD: Pioneer DVD-104SZ, CD/DVD Slot-In Drive IDE
FDD: 1.44 MB 3.5", Sony MPF420-1
Case: NoName microATX
PSU: ATX 350W, Be quiet! Pure Power, BQT L7-350W
OS: Windows 98SE (incl. Updates)

PS: I've recently bought some case badges for the bling (last pic) 😉
PPS: ... and - for the soundcard enthusiasts - I am quiet happy with the onboard sound 😜

Building my own PCs since 1991 - for my retro builds it's "no CF-disks, no Floppy emulators, no modern cases etc.", only the real and authentic stuff whenever possible.

I got the same or very similar Panasonic slot load DVD around about 2000. Didn't get much use as used a standard 32x rom drive to try and save wear on the expensive drive so not my best purchase but it was cool!
That same PC has the PCI64 (1373) on board. Dos compatibility, Not great but still good midi with the 8MB patch, drivers are WAY less bloated drivers then the Live! It's a perfectly acceptable alternative to the EMU based card's IMHO

Never had the V5 though Jealous of that!

I agree WinME gives you bonus points, but even back then I quickly went back to 98SE so is still period correct.
I did dual boot Win2K Pro , back then for when I was doing serous work but now I do prefer the extra stability over 9x

Hi, do you have the Driver for youre Board? I found mine in the garage and cant find the drivers for it.

Try the VIA 4in1 drivers
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1360&menustate=0
and those may be the audio drivers:
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1268&menustate=0
I think that's all you need.

This is a really tight build, nice selection of components that all fit together, with a very nice case !
The slot DVD is interesting, haven't come across one on eBay recently, makes me curious as to how rare they were in the wild and how reliable they were compared to the tray loaders.

I wonder about the soundcard and if a Live might be better since it would provide EAX for Win98 games, it also has good DOS compatibility if needed. I would also throw a LS120 drive in it too .. because they are great to have and faster than your average Floppy for reading discs. (To really take advantage you might need two of them one for the PC and a external USB one for your main PC)

I want a Voodoo 5 5000, I now have the entire range of Voodoo Cards minus the V5 5500, the V4 4500 is great but .. I know it would be better in SLI, I also dont believe in Unicorns so I wont ever own a V5 6000. (Prices are insane in AUD, over 1100 dollars right now for a stock V5 5500)

Also if anyone knows where I can get a replacement fan for a V4 4500 drop me a DM, even if its an ebay link.
I found a guy selling fans for a V3 2000 but not sure if they would also work on a V4 4500. (Seems like they are the right size but they are machined to only fit the V3 2000 correctly)

You could try to order some fans from osckhar, he is a notorious Voodoo modder.
Here is a current ebay-link: https://www.ebay.de/itm/174885285564
