That's not a big problem with modern E-ATX compatible case or some old workstation/server case from DELL, HP, etc.
I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.
The Serpent Rider got it right that Intel stopped supporting ISA DMA after chipsets using ICH5 (the Intel 800 series). I would suspect that a motherboard using any later chipset won't natively support DMA even if it has ISA slots.
Personally, I use a 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 on a DFI/Itox G4V620 (Intel 845GV) as a fast retro system for software that needs a Sound Blaster for full functionality (NT 3.1, OS/2 2.x, and Windows MME 3.0a). It's OK for DOS, but it has some quirks.
I would love to have a board with an Intel 800 series chipset, Socket 775, and ISA slots, but they're really hard to find (and expensive).
