I am coming back from the Oblivion gate near castle anvil, and my player is taking damage for no apparent reason; his health starts to constantly drain, how do I stop this without using the "tgm" command?

Maybe you are poisoned or hexed or something. I finished Oblivion a lot of months ago and never recall this happening to me.

Sounds like you may have been bitten by a Vampire and are taking damage by being in the sunlight.
Oh, yeah!!! I remember, I did get bitten by one of those furocious pieces of S***! Darn, how do I eliminate the vampire curse?
There is a quest you have to do to get the cure. Do an internet search to find out how to do it, because it is fairly complicated from what I understand.
On the other hand, it may be fun to do Oblivion being a vampire. A friend of mine finished "Morrowind" being a werewolf. 😁
