Earlier today I visited a link someone posted here I believe which lead to an Australian overclocking forum and to my surprise saw a couple familiar names posting there! 😁 (One of em had like 11k posts!!).
The posts were a very good read actually and I'm kinda sorry I didn't find this earlier, even tried to register there (I'm not Australian but I don't care hehe 😜) but it required a non-free email address.

Anyway, when browsing the internet I regularly stumble upon a forum that has a lively group of posters discussing retro hardware and everything around that.
I visit a couple other forums on a regular basis, some I visit only now and again and others I visit almost every day (though I don't necessarily make a post when I visit).

Some other interesting forums I visit are:
Vintage-computer.com, this is mostly about 386 and before, but the amount of knowledge there is quite astonishing!
classicplatforms.com, this forum used to be mostly Socket A a couple years ago but has expanded to basically everything that is P4 or Socket A, though discussion of earlier platforms take place. What sets this forum apart is that, even though the numper of posts made, the people who post there know a LOT about hardware and are very very friendly 😉
http://www.planet3dnow.de/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=92, haven't created an account there (yet anyway). The site's in German but with a google translation it's readable 😜
It's mostly 486 to 3DFX stuff that's discussed there.
http://www.k6plus.com, this forum is mostly Super 7 stuff. It's not very active anymore but for anyone looking for some interesting extra info about anything Super 7 related, I can advice to browse through the old posts 😉
http://www.winhistory-forum.net/. Again a German site, it has posters posting about old hardware as well as older OS'es like DOS and 9x (though not as much as over here 😜).

I'm pretty sure I forgot a couple others, but now on to the question;

Which forums do you fellow Vogoners regularly visit with regards to making old hardware run and might have some interesting info for other members here to read?

Whats missing in your collections?
My retro rigs (old topic)
Interesting Vogons threads (links to Vogonswiki)

You might like to look at QuestStudios.com. It covers old sound cards.

I wish someone from http://www.cpu-museum.de/forum would get back to me. That used to be a good forum about 6 or 7 years ago from what I can see but has been overrun with spammers. Does anybody here know anyone who was a moderator over there? That place could still be salvageable if they would give mod power to someone who was interested in maintaining it.

Over the years I've surfed I think nearly all these sites- planet3dnow, cpu-world, k6plus, vintage-computer, even mac sites like lowendmac which discusses old macs and the puppy linux forums - which have some info on old systems since it's a light distro.

However, since coming across this place nearly 2 years ago I find the need to go elsewhere for retro info to be very minimal.

Nothing else but here. Although many years ago I used to browse OldOS's forums quite often - the site hasn't been updated in about 2 years however.

Just don't really have much free time for browsing the interwebs anymore. 😒

GUIs and reviews of other random stuff

English Amiga Board, as there's hardly anything Amiga being discussed here.

Long time back I used to go to jagshouse.com for 68k Mac issues. He had a lot of trouble with the forum at one point. I think it's still there but not as lively as it was.

There is also zone6400.com, which is still around too though it looks like nothing much gets posted there. Haven't really used it for a long time.

bp6.com is still up as well, although my attempt to register there last year [so I could download bp6-related bios etc files] got nowhere. Again, pretty much a fossil and no longer a living forum.

3dfxzone.it doesn't seem to have got a mention yet, that one is still properly "alive".

There's also dosforum.de, my German is too poor to read much there though, I mainly just use the sound.dosforum.de page.

OCAU (Overclockers Australia) is quite a good forum. Lots of clever people. There is another forum: Whirlpool. I like both forums, but most stick with one or the other.

I have spent some time on queststudios, but it's a very quiet forum. Most of the knowledge can be found in past posts, so browsing through these will get you some amazing insight. Likely the best resource for MIDI / Roland related questions.

VOGONS's however is my favourite for Retro. The information in the archive is simply breathtaking. So much knowledge and it's also very busy with fresh blood joining all the time.

IMO the DOSBox forum should be split up and have their own site, but otherwise it's THE resource, mostly because there are a lot of people here with fantastic knowledge and experience who can answer tricky / complex questions without any dramas.

I second that! Have come across some very interesting projects involving retro hardware there.

Well classicplatforms sounded interesting but it's dead now, anyone know if it moved/evolved?

Not sure if the Vintage-computer site now is the same as the one then, because the one I get now seems overdesigned and undercontented or else the design keeps you away from the content.

However, for early '00s stuff I end up digging up the old stuff in anandtech or overclockers forums.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
