I need help with installing 98se to an Albatron KX18D Pro II. I am specifically trying to install to a 500gb Seagate Momentus XT. This board has on-board Silicon Image 3112 SATA-1 RAID controller which the Seagate is plugged in to. I've searched the forums a bit and it seems most posts I find are related to the add-in card version of these controllers and the nuances of chipset compatibly, which doesn't seem to apply here.
I used Parted Magic from UBCD 5.3.9 to set the partition and format to FAT32. Windows 98 setup seemed to work fine and see the drive. The install finished copying files to the drive. After restart, boot to HD causes the machine to hang with a text cursor in the top left.
I'm stumped. When I ran this board new in 2004, it was an XP machine with only 80gb drives in RAID0 so I didn't have any issues then. I know 98 doesn't work well with large drives and am not against running something else that's small as a boot drive, but would love to be able to use the full 500gb off the RAID controller for game installs, etc.
