Hi everybody!

I got an IBM Thinkpad 600E from my best friend. This laptop has a Crystal Fusion sound card.

I installed Windows Me and the OS recognised the sound card so it worked. Then I started to install drivers and updated the sound card with "Thinkpad Audio Featues III for Windows 95/98Gold VxD 4.12.2994" (latest driver, Me was not listed but I think it's compatible). Then I shut down and cold started the system. It loaded but there were random "Unknown hardware" popups which didn't appeaded with Windows drivers back then. The control panel installed but almost empty.
When I tried to play back a sound, Windows said the device may be in use. In the multimedia settings, every "Volume control" button greyed out. In Device manager, there's was a yellow exclamation mark with the error: "No free Interrupt Request found" but manually starting the device removes the yellow exclamation mark, but still no sound. After restart, the exclamation mark reappears.

I tried with Windows 98SE but same result happened.

What should I do now? I don't want to reinstall Windows if possible.

Thanks any comment in advance!

Oof. Assuming the chip hasn't fried itself, you might try using the DOS utility that comes with the 9x drivers to reset the card.

I only have a CWCDOS.exe where I only can specify Soundfusion Game/DDMA/PCPCI task file. This is what I have to use?
