Hiya,
I'm a developer for a third party program called Windower, which is used with Final Fantasy XI.
Love dgvoodoo2! It greatly improves and band-aids a lot of issues with Final Fantasy XI. Installation of dgvoodoo2 on the game pretty much always go flawlessly.
This time though, we have someone that is having an issue and we're pretty stumped. We're certain that dgvoodoo2 is being loaded because, without it, the game crashes when you lock windows and log back in. But with it, it stays open just fine.
But, despite what settings we choose, its not actually using the graphics card, its using the CPU. Which is extra odd since, it uses the graphics card just fine when dgvoodoo2 is uninstalled (Verified in task manager).

AMB Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Have tried it with both "All of them" and the graphics card selected. And are using typical (mostly default) settings and have tried some optional settings too.

Any thoughts on what we should try/check and how to debug? Thanks!

Update: Before I posted they had reinstalled the latest graphics drivers as part of debugging. They say now that "rolled my video drivers back to the first release of win11 from sept of last year and [its working properly now]". So, its at least working, curious if there are any thoughts on those driver issues, although probably nothing dgvoodoo can do about it.

Hi,

Thanks!

The GPU selection problem is very strange. You can check out the dgVoodoo log, the selected backend device is listed in it, along with the information whether it's hw accelerated or sw (WARP) device.
Indeed, if it's listed as hw accelerated but the sw WARP device is used in the background then I think it's a problem that cannot be fixed on dgVoodoo side.
Maybe it affect(ed) other DX11/12 games as well?
