I got a double dose of retro hardware delivered today, a Dell Dimension XPS P133c and an IBM ThinkPad A22m. This Dell is an absolute tank, I love it.

What is that strange PCI audio card in the Dell?

Looks like an Ensoniq ES1370 based card to me.

I'm not sure yet what card it is but it's one of these.

It's indeed a Creative made ES1370 (looks like it's the original Ensoniq PCB too, so it's likely some early OEM Audio PCI) but god damn I never saw one with such a huge heatsink 🤣

Got this new garbage... The 480 shows this crap... The 7950 GX2 does not have signal at all... At least with another card i can see the OS detects the damn thing.... Overall not happy at all, but got both for 17 euro (shitting included) so cant be too sad about it... Sad part is that good pieces of tech dont work properly....

I think those 7950's cook themselves, I've seen 2 dead ones in person.

Well the good part is with seperate GPU i saw in OS the device manager does detect 7950 GX2.... It is strange... It may end up being some sort of image outputting problem, ans if i solve that, i will save that nice piece of tech..
I will clean both damn cards and see what that will do for them... Both cards have missing SMD elements, the 7950 GX2 have even one big capacitor off 🤣....

The good stuff i got today... All for 60 euro + 3 euro shitting.. There was suppose to be an EpoX 8RDA3+ Pro, on the place of the useless 370 board, that have no AGP slot, but the seller seems made an mistake... Everything is working fine, the card with the strange cooler turned to be GF FX5900XT Chaintech. Really like the Agea logo on the backplate (FK nvidia hate that company).

One can never have to many GA-586HX, so I got another GA-586HX.
The Odin came in a socket, that's an unexpected convenience.
Not one of the fancy revisions, but it should work. Maybe not with a boring vanilla P100.

Well maybe, but not a complete, as i want AGP slot as well, where i can test whatever i want...
Any of these boards is working scrap (as i like to call this "class" of parts same to celerons, semprons, duron, MX and LE cards and other crap) and is great to be used as test subject to test new parts.. I specially like the small 462 ECS as it have AGP universal slot, so i can test there from S3 Tro, nVIDIA Riva 128 up to Radeon x1950 and Radeon HD 3850... I have same model duplicated, but the other board have soldered CPU some crap Athlon 1600 MHz lmao...

I have ofc some parts that i dont find any value in them, as test parts, PCI, AGP cards, SIMM, SDram, DDR400, celerons, pentiums, Athlons and others, as i dont like to use for tests some good stuff liek ABIT boards, AOpen and other high end stuff...

Got a few boxed Mainboards:

Iwill BS100 - early Slot1 BX-based board, with SCSI and the RaidPort-card with a lot of bad caps

Iwill BD100 - eary Slot1 BX - run-of-the-mill, good caps
Aopen AX6B: early Slot 1, caps look good
Intel VC820: Camino 820 chipset with RDRAM; it came in a CC820 box, with a friendly letter from Intel apologizing for the mess they made with the MTH bug. The owner must have traded it in when Intel recalled all MTH-boards. It has a 128MB RDRAM stick (still sealed) and a C-rimm. How generous of the Blue company.

And (not on pictures yet)

- a tower with an IWILL DBS100 (dual Slot 1, integrated SCSI, Raidport-slot) and an absolute huge doubledecker of a power supply.
- a tower with wheels, decent AT-power supply, Aopen 430TX -based AT-board, a Diamond S3 Vision868 PCI VGA and a Crystal CS4232-based ISA sound card. CPU is probably a P1 150.
- a few good ATX-cases
- a few AT spare new-in-box AT-power supplies
- an Antec True480 power supply (capacitors look ok, I opened it up after reading up on it in this forum)
- a boxed PCI (whoopie) Creative 3DBlaster Geforce2MX 32MB
- a few strange ISA TV-cards (not sure what I'll do with those)
- a proper (as in all chips present) Creative CT4520
- an Aztech Waverider Platinum 3D
- a brand new Intel made i740
- 10 CT5803 (I suppose salvaged from Dell pc's)
- 10 4+4MB (DIMM-like memory module installed) Matrox G2+DMILA

All the other stuff is not worth mentioning (flimsy atx-cases) but still takes up space in the garage...

Yep, ELSA released some glorious monsters before the gaming 3D boom rendered all that rather trivial.
Is that a native 8 MB PCI card or does it continue on the other side?
Image not only the price of that thing but of the CRT monitor that actually made use of this much video memory...
That's 1600 x 1200 at 32 bit. Many earlier 21" won't do 1200 lines in any practical way, IIRC.

Think I have the 4 MB upgrade module for the Millennium somewhere on the heap, making that thing 8 MB, but those were rare AF.

That's close to boring but easy 😀

It can't and that IBM RAMDAC made 250 MHz which for the time was insane. It did 1600x1200 at 97 Hz:
http://stephan.win31.de/elsa1k2k.htm#daten

This is what an average, quality 968 card looked, with 175 MHz RAMDAC:

Got my mind on putting a Pentium Dual Core (E6800) build into this case since I have recently picked up a Asrock 4Coredual-sata2 Rev 2.0 board recently and I need a Pentium level machine for AGP GPU testing since the P3 cant push enough pixels and a Core2Quad is overkill for AGP.

I will have to locate some HDD thumb screws for it since the seller doesnt have them, any suggestions for replacements ? might actually be easier to just cable tie a SDD in there but a HDD for storage would be nice.

Caps is always going to be the dilemma of "all or just that one"?

Well, you got it all planned out perfectly. Can't really say anything beside "post pics when done".
AGP with C2D is old-tech-meets-new kind of vibe to me. 😀
