Heh, that's the same AOpen case that I'm using for my AthlonXP rig. I really like that aesthetic. It's a bit more modern than the "beige blocks" of the 90s, but still not as fancy as some mid 2000 era cases. Good choice on the other components too. It's a very nice system for Win9x gaming.

Try hunting down a LiveDrive front panel for that SB0100, if it's not too expensive in your area. Works great for hooking up a pair of high quality headphones, and has optical in/out too for when you need to record some gameplay audio.

Really like that case Aopen made some good ones back in the day.

You need to put a video on youtube showing how to do cable management, beautiful work!

I remember that AOpen case. I used to have 3 or 4 of them but had to part them out to make room and because these couldn't really be stacked because of the front bezel extension lionsmane thingy (because stacking PC cases saves space).
Otherwise I like AOpen cases of this vintage 🙂

You also picked a good board, I like this setup and I like the parts you picked.
What harddrive and OS are you using?

The only part I don't like much is the PSU.

Thank you. Yes, we have the same case 😀. Nice Athlon XP build there to. This case is a transistion case from 90s style cases to the more 2002 and up style cases. Perfect for Pentium 4 or early Athlon XP builds.
Regarding the LiveDrive im not an audio enthusiast, and tbh i never saw them at good prices in my country either. But thanks for the suggestion 😀

Thank you! I never thought of that to be honest, but this not dificult. Trial and error and braces to create the structure.

Regarding the PSU, i know what you mean. I only saw google coments when i had it mounted and cable managed, however, 1 day should be enough to remove it and redone the wirings, if i decide to repalce the PSU. But from what i saw when i got the PSU, in the day i got it, i was with a friend that really knows a good amount about electrical components, soldering and stuff. He said, QTEC PSUs were good in terms of construction, but over advertised in terms of specs, and better than old generic ATX PSUs. The PSU had a lot of dust in it, he cleaned it and tested it, and it was showing good voltages. The amount of dust in it, ironically gives me a little bit of security, which means it was used for a good amount of time without giving issues or so called explosions 😀
Regarding the power consumption of the build, it´s peaking at 150W, measured in the wall, so with 70/75% efficiency at that consumption, should be around 105/115W. If the PSU delivers 120W on the 12V and 140W on the combined 3.3+5v, i guess it´s in the safe load. Measured voltages are 11.70v, 5.05v and 3.36v while running 3dmark 2001 or quake 3 which taxes both CPU and GPU at peak 150W "wall". Running prime 95 peaks at 145W "wall".
