I can't help but just wonder, does flashing the board from DOS with Flashrom or Uniflash not work, hence the requirement of a programmer? I know my ASUS A7N8X-VM/400 wouldn't let me flash anything, so I had to overwrite it using a Jetway N2PAP Lite mobo.

Moving from the PB-bios to the retail MSI requires "forcing" it unto the chip. I have been frustrated in the past with hotflash methods and uniflash, so I decided on the external programmer.
