Hi all
I have this card, seller on ebay told me it's working perfect.

It has this weird resistor here (circulated in red) which I haven't seen before on Voodoo2 cards.

I have tried this card on different W95 and W98 machine.
Card is recognized as Audio/video device.
I have tried 3 different drivers:

one from Phil's site, the Diamond monster II drivers.
retail voodoo 2 drivers, and fastvoodoo 4.6 drivers.

With all 3, I cannot enter properties.
It gives me this error:

When I open the demo files from the drivers folder it gives me this:

-On Midtown Madness 2, It won't recognize 3d card at all, even if I put the glide2x.dll in the game's folder.
-On Fifa 99, it recognize it with the 3d setup but game looks the same with the voodoo 2 and S3, so I am not sure whether it's working on the voodoo or not.

I have installed Unreal demo version, With FastVoodoo 4.6 and it does recognize "3dfx glide for windows" and the game is looking good!

I have touched the chip to see if it gets hot, and it does but not very hot.
What's going on?

Hmm that resistor shouldn't be there and it shouldn't have two different types of memory either, it kind of looks like someone has upgraded a 8mb card to a 12mb card.

Searching Google there are other examples of the Monster II having both the resistor and different types of Vram so its possible you have a similar revision of Monster II. (All with this resistor and odd pairing of memory are REV A)

Both memory types are 256K x 16, 25ns EDO.

Could you check with the DOS 3Dfx diagnostic utility? It can be located here and the file is called MOJO.EXE.

TMU1 Ram isn't being detected so the card thinks there is only 6mb of memory, each TMU should have 2mb. I would be checking all the Vram ICs so see if any of the legs are loose or damaged, its also possible mojo isn't detecting the card correctly.

The TMU with surface damage might also need checking to make sure all its legs are still attached to the PCB and have not cracked away.
