The new HyperDrive4 (Revision 3) is over twice as fast as any number of the latest Western Digital WD740ADFD Raptors in RAID6 at running a representative basket of desktop applications as measured by Computer Technik Magazine's H2BenchW.
Putting this in plain English, one HyperDrive4 is twice as fast as anything that can be done with any number of the world's fastest hard disks in any RAID configuration.
CDROM drive form factor. Fits into a standard 5.25" CD bay.
It is Bootable.
It connects just like a Hard Disk or a CDROM.
Does not require any drivers.
IDE/PATA and SATA connectors onboard.
ATA133 UDMA6 bus
8 DRR1 DIMM slots, each of which can take registered ECC DIMMs up to 2GB on the 16GB(max) version (no on-board RAM included).
Retains data when the PC is restarted or shutdown by means of external DC power supply connected to the main PC power lead through a PCI slot blanking plate.
Onboard battery connector and 6 hour 7.2V 4800mAh backup battery for power outages.
Very Low power Sleep mode automatically activated when PC power is lost.
Optional Autobackup to internal laptop drive when power is lost.
Seek time is 1100 nanoseconds read/250 nanoseconds write
I/O capability for 1K files is 35,000 per second which is 125x faster than the Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD hard disk (275 IOps) as measured by Intel's IOmeter
S.M.A.R.T. compliant
Works in all RAID configurations
100% secure file deletion (disconnect both the external and the internal power!) Hard disks suffer from magentic remnance and so retain data even after it has been overwritten several times! But the HyperDrive4 is forensically wiped every time power is fully disconnected.
Gramophone free design - no mechanics, pure silicon!
Modular expandable design. You can start with 1GB if you like and expand up to 16GB at your leisure.
In fact you can assess the HyperDrive's performance with just one 1GB DDR stick loaded, since its performance is independent of its size!
Uses 12-14 Watts at 12 volts (1.0-1.2 Amps) in normal operation with 16GB DDR (Infineon/Qimonda)
Uses 5 Watts at 7.2 Volts (700mA) in sleep mode (entered when running off a battery during a power cut).
A good hard disk can do around 40,000 stops and starts at 40 degrees centigrade (Hitachi/IBM Deskstar 180GXP). The HyperDrive4 doesn't mind how many stops and starts it does because it has no moving parts.
XP installs on a HyperDrive4 in around 7 minutes, rather than the 40 minutes that it takes to install on a Hard Disk. The limitation is the CDROM drive speed not the HyperDrive speed!
It fires up Windows XP in 2 seconds from the splash screen to the desktop with nForce4/5 Mobos. It fires up Windows 2003 Server in 2 seconds (although in both cases it is hardware polling and device driver timing loops that take up most of that 2 seconds). So it is “instant on” and gives you an “instant desktop”.Vast performance increases are seen for IO intensive applications such a Graphics, Games, Audio processing, Video processing, Code Compiling, large Databases, and large Spreadsheets etc. You can run Windows, your applications and your data all on the HyperDrive4 or use the HyperDrive4 as an extremely fast scratch disk.
Since the HD4 has no gramophone style disk head, it can service 125 people on a Network (performing 125 IO operations) in the time that a conventional HDD takes to service one person (performing one IO operation). The Head of a HDD can only be in one place at once. The HD4 uses Random Access Memory and so can find 8000 pieces of data in the time that a HDD finds one piece of data by moving its head backwards and forwards and by whirring its disk platter round and round. Therefore the HD4 can find and read and output 125 1K files in the time that the latest Western Digital Raptor can find and read and output one 1K file (results from Intel's IOmeter benchmark). Any Network which has more than 2 concurrent users of the same data source will see at least a doubling in performance with an HD4.
The HyperDrive4 comes with a 3-year manufacturers warranty.
I wish I was rich. Screw charities and curing diseases. This is what it's all about! 🤤
