My computing area in 1994.
I managed to identify quite some stuff. 😀

You look exactly like my college roommate from 1996. I would have been really envious of that tower back then, I was still rocking a DX4 100 VLB.

The Mancave... Ofc the wardrobe is at 80% full of computer stuff, there is couple of small computers on the small space next to the wardrobe and the wall, hidden computers, laptops and stuff under the bed ofc.. And the basement is full of stuff (ofc nothing very good such as ABIT board, CPU collection or 3Dfx cards can be found there..).

Is that a MOD tracker on the screen?

That is indeed Fast Tracker 2 😀 One of the earlier versions of course.

Well the wiskey bottle is from the times when i used to drunk alot of beer, vodka, wine and wiskey.. But one day realised that i feel like shit and stopped the alcohol totally.. Consuming most of the time much alcohol does not end up well. These days i dont drink even beer, as it kills my gains, i use the bottle to drink water instead.. And that big jar of protein is very good for collecting coins, i am using these days other protein that is not in jar, and i feel alot better, as drinking toooo much and doing 0 sport and gym time make the human like fish, and that is not very good.. (you can even see the dumbbells on the reflection in one of the pictures..)

I used to own an FG-10 as well. I think it was intended for playing background music in shops/amusement parks or something, you could pogram it to play tunes at certain hours.

Rearranged my room. Now on the left place to work on modern laptop or a place with TFT screen connected to three PC's using a KVM switch - 486 Compaq, P1 Digital and a pII/400 by Dell. On the right side - place for three computers with CRT screens - now Amiga 3000, 286/20 with early 90's VGA and a 286/16 with EGA/VGA videocard and a Hungarian EGA display Videoton) Some temporarily unused CRt's and desktops are stored udnertable)

Very nice setup! Took a picture one hour ago to send a friend, and now seeing your post made me feel like there was some similarities (angle and turquoise wall? 😁)
So here's the main computer area of my retrogaming room, it's not exactly clean but that's pretty realistic - it probably looks like this more often than not 😉

Very cool! I've been meaning to write something for years to provide another perspective. He said in it that brightness and focus are an issue, but calibration can fortunately address both.

The monitor's 2.3 gamma calibrates to <1 dE with a D65 white point and a 100-nit luminance at 100 IRE. It even manages <2dE for RGBCMY and their respective saturation sweeps without a color management system or lookup table calibration (externally with those I have it at <0.5dE virtually across the board).

The focus on the monitor is also outstanding but requires a tedious but incredibly accurate process of digital convergence and uniformity adjustment. After doing this, 1080i and 720p are shockingly sharp for a CRT. The 24" version of this monitor (the BVM-D24) is actually the same tube as the Sony GDM-FW900 which is one of the sharpest CRT computer monitors and the BVM-D32 is actually sharper still.

Once calibrated and viewed in a dim room, the results are stunning. It's fun knowing I'm watching an SDR film on the same display it was most likely mastered on.

Wow man, it's borderline criminal to now show us that beast turned on! 😁 didn't know those big ass BVM were a thing, only knew the smaller monitors. This looks awesome.

It was time to drastically reduce my MIDI setup since I have to give up this room in a couple of months to turn it into a bedroom for one of my sons.
Put most of my modules and all of my wavetable cards in boxes and dropped it off at my parents.

Only have 3 devices left connected: MT-32, MU2000 and SC-8820.

Spent the weekend rebuilding my mancave/shed as it was an absolute state and you couldn't see the floor. It's a 5x3m converted garden building - one end is for 'modern' work and play, the other end for 'retro' play, with 2 large cupboards along the back wall, full of junk, er, computer stuff.

The desk end:
Looking out the window - work ThinkPad laptop with 2x21" screens, Polycom phone, Laserjet Pro (with an old 3d printer above).
To the side - my home PC (HP Z230 sitting under the printer) with a 34" ultrawide screen, Zip250 drive, Amazon Echo, Creative soundbar, plus my workbench tools (bench PSU, soldering iron etc.) (Above this is an Optoma projector)

TV end:
My current 'plaything' - 90's PC setup of an IBM PC330, Iiyama 17" screen, Sidewinder joystick, floppy box and a Picade
On the cabinet is a radio and an Apple iMac G4
In the middle is an Amiga 600 and an old 17" HP LCD, beneath that are a bunch of consoles - Sega Mega Drive, Nintendo Wii, Xbox Original, Xbox 360 and Dreamcast - all these are linked to an HDMI switcher for the TV or projector
On the right is my equipment rack with an IBM PS/2 Model 70 on top (and a model P70 in the suitcase in between)
Equipment rack - 3x Lenovo ThinkCenter servers (Nutanix cluster), Onkyo surround amp, 2x small Juniper EX2200 switches (about to swap out for a Netgear), HDMI matrix switcher, Netgear NAS, QNAP NAS, HP Micro PC as a media player.

Pretty much everything is (normally) setup and ready to use - just need to finish tidying up after the remodelling...

Oh and there's a sofa (bed) in the middle of the room facing the TV!

Cheers

Nice! Do you have air conditioning or heating in there? Just wondering how usable it is in winter/summer months.

The walls have a inch thick sheet of polystyrene for insulation then plasterboard so it's not that disastrous, but yes I have a portable Aircon unit for the summer and a couple small portable radiators for winter months.

those stored computers a relatively quick to get into action though i'd guess, nice to have them on hand like that

Slowly setting up my outhouse for a LAN party with some friends over next few months. Everything from K6 233 and Pentium 2 500 upto I7 3770 and Ryzen 2200G.

Need more monitors and Chairs but they'll be easy to get.

Wow that's a beautiful space you have there. There nothing like a good old fashioned lan party and with that incredible space you have your sure to have a great time.
