This Micro Mint Lasar ZE machine.

It's Apple II clone. Z80 on board so it should run CP/M. Comes with two FDDs, floppy controller, 80 column mode graphics card. Find on a local auctions. I believe nobody bet on it beside me 😮

No keyboard so I will have to build PS/2->ASCII adapter.

I will feature it on the one of upcoming episodes...

That's a really cool looking card. Do you have any plans for the missing bracket? Such a bummer to see those missing on cards.

New monitor arrived today. Formac ProNitron 17/500 (Sony CPD-203FT). After cleaning, it looks very decent. Very sharp image. Can't find any specs for it. I think I have seen similar looking monitors branded for Dell and Silicon Graphics too, but can't remember the models.

It was surprisingly clean inside. Only couple of dustbunnies flew out with compressed air.

After washing the case.

Strange half-ass rebranding. "Let's just slap couple of stickers on this Sony and call it a day". Just some domed stickers.
IMGP2177_.jpg

Same in the back. They just added their own sticker on top of Sony's.

It's my Prosignia 500. I posted it here last year: Re: Bought these (retro) hardware today
Sadly, that thing doesn't see much use. Really beautiful machine, in almost like new condition. Not a single scratch on it and clean like the day it came out from the factory. I suspect this must have been a spare server, just waiting for use powered off its whole life. Only the spot where the original owner's sticker used to be is a bit brighter than the rest of the plastics. Hate to see it just sitting there, I should do something with it 🙁

I like the idea that its almost 'new old stock', if it looks just as clean inside and all works fine when powered on then it's a bit of catch! 😀

Awesome, it looked like it might be a Pentium Pro, but still cool even with a normal Pentium
I'd put in a P200 (or whatever it can be maxed out with) and a voodoo, maybe voodoo2 😎
but yes, if you already have a similar machine it's fine even like this, in it's default config 🙂

Round of applause for the effort this eBay seller went to for the packaging for this Pentium 200 (non MMX) destined for my IBM PC 330. No bent pins!

This reminded me of a Core2Duo T7600 I got from eBay recently. No other bidders, I think in part because it looked so nasty in the seller photos. Cleaned up great though, this is the fastest CPU a Thinkpad T60 will support. :)

I am always amazed at some of the packaging solutions eBay sellers come up with.
Not everyone likes to use packing peanuts and bubble wrap. Or flat rate FREE boxes.
Its very creative and unique to design your own package solution. I just wonder if they are happy or angry when they do it ?

New to the heap, mid €€ all together. Some rather diverse boards:

- Asus A7V600-X, VIA KT600 with Athlon XP 2 GHz Thoroughbred (probably buggy SATA and useless AD1888 sound...)
- M6VBE µATX with PIII-500, legendary Biostar quality. [/irony] I like that it has ESS SOLO-1 on board sound. VIA chipset. Should I try to retrofit the ISA?
- Asus P4PE-X TE socket 478 with 2.8 GHz Northwood. Next AD1888 sound. It was cheap.
- Asus M2N AM2 with Athlon 64 X2 2.2 GHz. Pretty vanilla. The Nf4 chipset apparently wasn't Nvidias finest hour...
- Some 440LX based OEM with PII-233. Sadly, that one was officially sold as dead. Has an Yamaha YMF-721 MIDI sound chip on board. Impressive 6 screw CPU retention...
Minor loot, Prolink TNT2 M64, original ASUS coast module, etc.

- Radeon x1550, ELSA Gladiac 311 TV (gf2 MX-200) for the collection, Gainward gf4 MX-440 bycatch.
- Lifetime slocket supply
- copper paperweight in case I ever need to watercool a GF670 GTX.

Some weird SFF system, based on PIII, it seems. Supposed to have PSU trouble, might use it to keep the door open.

Skythe 5.25 bay 4x temperature and fan control unit with many little knobs and cables and a flashy backlit display. The PC equivalent of a Kenwood stereo for your aging pony car, I am ever so proud!

No, Ma'am, we at the FBI have no sense of humor that we'd know of. 😁
I really only got that for the alien autopsy, even if I manage to repair it, no use whatsoever...

I think the price bubble finally popped.
I bought this for a price that would be low even in 2019 at local auction service.
Case is dirty but machine is fully functional. It has Gigabyte GA-586HX inside, which is one of the best Socket 7 motherboards (I have like 3 or 4 of them my main S7 machine is based on one too) and came with this nice Hercules Dynamite 128/Video.

Out of curiosity and because a HX board might be good to have what revision of this board is good to get ?

I can find a Rev 1.56 version for a ok price or a Rev 1.53 version with the Cache module slot for a little more .. I do have a few Cache modules in the box.

Not even sure having the Cache slot would be worth having with this board as its never likely to have more than the 48mb the 1.56 board comes with. (Comes with a AMD K5 PR166 and ATI Mach 64 GPU, dont have either in the box yet)

Thoughts ?

Just bought a BFG 7800GT to replace the Radeon X800 GTO in my Pentium 4 machine. Thankfully I already have a molex to pcie power adapter that i never had to use but came with my 960 years ago when I bought it.
