I think I found an issue with what you grabbed. For the amplifier, you have a TI TPA152DR, but that seems to have a completely different pinout than the MS6308 or TDA1308 specified. I kind of want to be consistent with the part sources. So going with the TS482IDT, does STM also make a compatible OpAmp to replace the TI that I have on there now?

In other news, a friend of mine isn't making use of his soldering tools, so he's going to let me borrow them indefinitely for my projects! A soldering iron, multi-meter, solder, flux, and even some practice stuff!

Got a pleasant surprise today when my Utsource order showed up. This is despite the tracking status on their site still showing as "Waiting for shipment".

This just proves you can't always trust online tracking statuses.

That may very well be the case.

I'm surprised their web site still lists over 30k in stock of these. Guess those numbers don't mean much either.

I’ve spent some time looking through this thread, but haven’t found an answer. Is there a tolerance I should be sticking to for the capacitors (and to a lesser extent, the resistors)? I didn’t see anything mentioned in the BOM, and I couldn’t find anything in the thread, though I may have missed it.

I followed one of suggested BOM; SMD resistors and capacitors are between 1% to 5% tolerance. Electrolytes are 20%. So stick to 1% unless it is much more expensive then get 5%. I don't really think 1% to 5% make any differences.

Just a random note thrown in with some parts getting increasingly difficult to obtain: Since RC1 the card also supports straight and 45° SIMM slots rather than just 90° ones.

So I took a look at the 72-pin connector I had on there, and it was #1 Out of stock and #2 tin pins.

That has been corrected to gold pins and just our luck, in (low) stock.

Edit: I see that many of the Panasonic resistors are not in stock as well. Any suggestions on replacements of the same or better quality?

What's the reasoning between Quantity 1 and Quantity 2 in your BOM?

Quantity 1 is the exact amount required for the card while Quantity 2 is the "I'm an idiot and don't know what I'm doing" amount to allow for mistakes. 🤣

This is a good rule of thumb even when you know what you're doing. When buying electronic components it's always a good idea to buy more than you think you'll need to account for defects, damage, etc.

This is especially true for tiny SMD components. Each and every one is fitted with a tiny jet engine and will rocket into another dimension if you handle it wrongly or breathe in its general direction.

haha I like this way of describing it. But unfortunately sounds about right. If you don't hold the part properly, it just falls off or flies away.

I usually go try to find the part, and sometimes I do find it 🤣. But yeah, hold them wrong and they fly away

In the rare case when these tiny SMD parts or screws do not abandon the space-time continuum I eventually find them but in the most unlikely places, as if they had taken an impossible trajectory. Once I had a tiny resistor end up inside a small bag of screws that had a minimal opening and that was nowhere near close where I expected it to fall.

My experience shipping from Germany to Canada has been 1-2 months transit time. So if they were sent April 29, then maybe sometime in June to arrive?
