Yep, almost pristine! Even have bubble wrap sleeves! Only thing is a wire was resting against the top front and has left a slight imprint but it's hardly noticeable 😀

This is a seller who knows his stuff. All boards were recapped, the Core Dual Sata even has copper heatsinks on all vrm's.

Those bridge chips get stupid hot. I fixed a friend's card back in the day that had a weird instability but putting a heatsink on the bridge chip. After that the card worked flawlessly for years.

Well, I've been away for a while, indulging in building a brand new computer and playing with that for several months!

However, back to doing some retro stuff, I finally swallowed my pride and just paid outright ($160AU) for one of these cases off the bay:

Of course, the main feature of this series of AT cases is the hinged top. Comes with the obligatory 200W PSU. I do not fully understand why I want a case like this so bad ... but I do and I must have one!

Just have to remember not to short the PSU, they don't like it, it is how I killed the original one I had back in the day.

Hopefully it arrives intact!

Unfortunately I can't answer that question. On the card I fixed I had to use Artic silver thermal epoxy as the Nvidia card had no mounting holes.

IIRC ATI cards I've had with bridge chips required me to add a very small dab of paste then literally superglue a slightly modified southbridge heatsink (like those found on some 775 era Gigabyte mobos) to cool them.

Not the best way of action, but I managed to save an Sapphire X1650 Pro that way, and it's been running sweet since then.

Got given a couple of boxes of bit and compete system of unknown spec a few days ago.. Lots of cables, wi-fi adaptors etc but came across these interesting bits...

Unknown socket 7 ATX motherboard with an AMD K6-II 450
Shuttle motherboard with an AMD Duron 950
Bag containing a mix of 30 and 72 pin SIMMS, must be a couple of dozen in total, been a long time since I've seen a 30 pin module.
Some low capacity IDE drives including a Caviar 80mb.

The system itself must have been someone's pride an joy back in the day, been told it was tested working a couple of months back but not checked yet. Anyway its based around a Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI, not sure on CPU but it has a huge after-market cooler, all four RAM slots are full and a branded 650w PSU. The biggest surprise is the video cards(!), there are two 6800GTs in a SLI configuration which must have set the original buyer back a fair bit.

Going to get it all powered up, keen to see what the CPU is but guessing it will be be something near the top end of whatever family it is.

As for the two motherboards, it looks like the shuttle board can accept both pc 133 and DDR so I can test this with DDR at least but will have to track down some PC100 / PC133 for the K6-II.

Testing the mixed bag of SIMMS is going to be a mare though, years ago I'd have had no end of suitable systems to hand but not any more - at one point I had everything from a genuine IBM XT through to a Slot A Athlon 🙁 Will keep an eye out for a motherboard and see what happens.

Yes, the seller made a custom heatsink and new screws to fit the existing holes.

I can totally relate and have seen several of these cases from all over the world. Mine came with an 80W PSU and after that one blew up I modded it for ATX. The keyboard lock key became the ignition key.

I have more trouble finding a proper MX440 than 256 DDRs... This one is not 3D stable on stock clocks but might be possible to fix.

Will I need to install a latch release cable? But yeah, I think these flip top cases are among the coolest of the old AT cases.

Although, the chunky red power switches on the sides of old XT based computers are stupidly satisfying to operate. Big CLUNK, then the computer whirs into life!

this system can be used as parts for a megapc or upgrade it to a 486slc megapc with a board swap .
I initially thought I would upgrade my 2nd megapc to be 486slc too but seeing how nice and clean this system is I don't think I'll harvest it's mobo 🤣 🤣 🤣

Finally entered into the Voodoo V 5500 club... The card appear to be very well preserved, if it was in very poor condition, it was going to be waste... Now my collection is completed for me (as i like to say, a collection is not complete if there is no AWE 64 Gold, Voodoo V 5500, Pentium Pro....), or close to, as i will like GUS card, ATi Rage Fury MaXX, Terratec EWS64 and others.....

Traded these parts for the Voodoo V, also included Acer Extensa Pentium 1 laptop not in best condition, but working, COM mouse M$, some sticks of EDO SIMM memory, AMD K6-II 300, 2 sticks 256MB SDram.
The mains in the trade was SB AWE64 Gold, SB 16 CT1750, TSeng ET4000 PCI, ASSrock 754 bridge card (brand new).
The card costed me like 25 euro tops, as the parts from the trade costed me that much..

What was that 754 bridge meant for?

What AMD board had a less than 754 socket?

I knew they made 939 and AM2 boards to upgrade the 754 and 939 boards... I actually have one of the AM2 bridge boards and a motherboard to use it with.
