Hello friends.
I recently put together a PC using a Kyro II for graphics and I'm having an issue with it in Unreal Tournament 99. In almost all levels the floor texture is missing in some areas... it renders solid black:
I'm using Windows 98 Second Edition + Direct X 8.1 and PowerVR Kyro (II) V2.01.21.0007 drivers.
The complete system hardware configuration is:
- Pentium III-S 1400MHz 512KB
- Jetway 618TAS (intel 815EP) mainboard
- 256MB Kingston PC133 CL2 SDRAM - 1 stick
- Hercules 3D Prophet 4500
- Aureal Vortex 2 sound card
- 80GB Maxtor HDD
- 350w FPS 80+ PSU
So far it seems only Unreal Tournament has any issue, as 3D Mark 01, 3D Mark 00 and Homeworld run correctly. I'm installing Dungeon Keeper 2 next to see if missing/back textures occur there as well.
So far, despite 3D Mark scores the Kyro II has really impressed me with it's performance and image quality. UT99 is playable @ 1600x1200 / 16 bit mode with over 60FPS (62 to 68 depending on the map). At 1280x960 32bit mode I get about 80-90 average FPS again depending on the level. I was expecting Geforce 256 SDR performance levels, but it seems closer to a Geforce 2 PRO.. Also, to me it looks like the output and render quality on the kyro2 is better then my Geforce 2 GTS.
Back on topic - has anyone experienced this issue before? Any way to fix it?
