That's a nice and really rare PPGA P60 (one without golden heatspreader). Just seen them once (in my collection, hehe).
Mine had the same cooler mounted on top. It had a doubled sided heatpad that was quite resistant but luckily only adhered partially to the CPU.
I was able to remove it by soaking it with isopropyl alcohol and working around with some small wooden wedge after some time. The pad eventually gave up under this pressure after some time, luckily without damaging the print and without leaving scratches or anything on the ceramic.
Others here prefer some freezer method but this wedge method worked for me.

I'm currently in the middle of repairing a Compaq ProLinea 4/25s machine: Compaq ProLinea 4/25s - Seems to be dead, ideas?

But while keeping my eyes open, i found that someone's selling a motherboard, that is not compaq motherboard, but has all the ports, screw holes and even riser slot exactly the same as the compaq. So i got it for 10€ and i hope that will be a "backup solution" if i don't get the original motherboard working.

It would actually be even an upgrade - it has cache (which compaq does not have) and slowest CPU i can provide there is dx2-50, which is double the "megaherzes"! 😁

Personally I would probably just leave the heatsink on if it worked properly as-is.
s4 heatsinks aren't easy to come by.

I'd say that also... you're gonna have a horrendous time getting it off, only to have a horrendous time getting something else back on top of it if you actually want to run it.

So it's an Acer Acermate A1G, right? My guess is Acer produced those boards for Compaq and also offered their own systems with it.

That's a really nice looking monitor. The picture non it looks really sharp.

Bought this for 5 EUR. Not exactly my retro flavor, but the price was good, and I believe it is a trade material for something else I would rather have.

175€ is still a steal for this monitor. They are very hard to come by and the last one I saw apparently sold for more than 500£ on ebay earlier this year.

I'd be interested to know how your WinDAS session goes with it. Your post got me curious so after a quick googling I stumbled upon Adrian's digital basement video on YT and this got me quite interested. I have a Sony 17Sf that is a bit dim and I didn't know there was a solution until now (I opened it a while ago and was puzzled to see it didn't have any pots to adjust the white balance but now I understand why!)

I had to tweak my fw900s with windas and a colorimeter in the past. It's no fun at all ...at least for me... and usually give up after 3 hours with okayish results. There are ppl out there tweaking the shit out of it for the entire day.

Yesterday I received my Yamaha QY-8, imported from Japan. It was a steal for only €13,-. It is in great condition and it still had the factory screen protector on it. I cleaned it up nicely and I desoldered the backup battery. I'm not gonna compose any songs on it in the near future that need to be saved, so I thought I'd better desolder it before it starts leaking and kills the device.

It uses Yamaha's proprietary MIDI format by default, but you can enable a limited GM mode. GM capabilities are limited, so MIDI playback from DOS games is a hit and miss; some games sound great and some barely play at all. Missing instruments is the problem at times. I recorded a couple samples for you guys, so you can judge yourself what it sounds like.

It definitely got a unique sound to it. I really like it for what it is, especially for only €13,-. 😀

Bought 8 little Vram heat sinks and received 32 of them all with thermal tape, also bought 6 40x40x10 copper heat sinks for VSA 100 chips and got 12 of them also with thermal tape.

No idea why they sent so many but I guess I now have a ton of spares, going to upgrade the cooling on the Voodoo5, Voodoo4 and Voodoo 3 3500 and see what is left and find more GPUs to throw these onto. (Already repasted the V5 once already but its cooling could be better)

MSI K7T266 Pro-R for the usual tenner. Early "DDR" Socket 462 / Athlon motherboard with IDE RAID and AGP pro. Some random AM.
Fat, good looking caps. Boots just fine.
Apparently, the original VIA KT266 chipset has all kinds of funny bugs to look forward to...

This came with surprise CPU that turned out to be a surprise... Thunderbird 1400.
Nice! Especially since I have one of those since 20 years, only that I cooked it some day...
IIRC, that bugger is unlocked by nature. It readily OCed via multiplier setting in the award bios.

There are few candidates, when i started off from your suggestion.
A1G - all looks good, except the video memory is different/not socketed and there is no on-board ram. (pads are there)
A1G4 - based on the component image on UT, it is identical, except the jumpers between cache and tag chip are wrong way around. (Mine seems to be like A1G)
A1GL - Same story as A1G4

There is A1G+, which doesn't have any picture material. Maybe that will be a perfect match. Once i receive the board, i'll try to identify it properly.
