The Intel Core2 E8700 has been produced or simply never even done as a prototype?

Never released to production so it’s possible there may be qualifying es chips out there.

Never seen one myself.

Thanks, it'd be nice to find the official fastest clocked version even if the E8600 already is quite capable to reach those freqs even if I don't usually like overclocking old components anyway. 😉

To be fair if it’s anything like the QX9770 it’ll already be overclocked silicon and likely won’t have a ton of extra room over the E8600.

Also being an ES chip it’s likely not as fast as a production model or will require BIOS mods to get it running.

Would still be nice to have 😀

True, it'd not be easy to make it detected correclty. Not that the E8600 isn't enough, I tested in the past @ 3,66Ghz without overvolt and no problems but even at default clock it's still nowdays a capable cpu. 😉

The PIII 1.13 Coppermine that was unstable and subsequently called back by Intel per august 2000 was a Slot 1 CPU. Rumour has it that some 200 were issued and some 20 never made it back - very rare thus.
Your SL5B2 is an FCPGA Coppermine-T version that was issued somewhere in summer 2001 and that edition worked fine and is not extremely rare.

Cool, didn't know they were talking about a Slot 1 version.

My chips are regular coppermines, not the "coppermine-T". No IHS. https://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL5B2.html

The coppermine T is the SL5QK: https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-III/In … 33PZ006256.html They have an IHS installed like Tualatin chips.

Your link mentions FC-PGA2 and not FC-PGA.
https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-III/In … 26PZ006256.html
Your P3 CPU apparently should come with the IHS. If yours is missing then they were apparently removed by a prior owner?

Could you upload a pic of your chip including the full part number?

At the bottom of the link I included someone added a pic of your CPU and it includes an IHS.

will do as soon as i get home

MIIv isn't any particular model. They're just regular MIIs made for VIA.
The silver top ones are pretty interesting. They're .18u, and said to overclock to 300MHz without much hassle.
The strange thing is that I'd never seen a single silver top MII until a few years ago, then suddenly a whole boatload appeared.
I guess a large lot of SBCs or portable PC was scrapped and these silver tops were inside.

Never tested my MIIv 333GP silver CPU out, only a short test on a Gigabyte i430TX, if a bios post comes, and it does, but with a wrong detection, because the bios (latest flashed) does not know this CPU type. Good to know is, that this CPU gaves a post screen.

I have two Socket 7 gold digger CPUs in my collection: A Pentium MMX 200 P55C, which runs stable with 300 MHz (100MHz FSB) at 2,8V stock P55C voltage and the K5 PR166, which runs stable (also under 4h Prime) as a PR200 with 3,3V VCore. Maybe this Cyrix MIIv 333GP is also a gold digger CPU, if it runs stable as a MIIv 433GP with stock 2,2V Voltage on a SS7 Board with 100 MHz FSB. I need to test this out in the future.

I got lucky with my QX9770 as it will do 4.3 24/7 with an AIO or 4.2 under a D14 have had it at 4.5 but it’s not prime stable.

Have a pair of E8600 chips that I have not yet binned so I’ll be doing that soon!

Not terribly rare, sought after or valuable. 30$ probably. Some dreamers put them for 50 on ebay but I don’t think they sell at that price. I’ve seen similar chips going for 20 or so recently also.

A 433gp can go for 300$ though

Do you have a historical link for this? I suspect these may be more valuable in today's market. I think they are quite rare and I have only ever come across one. However, since many other 2.2 v MII's can run at 300 MHz, I guess there isn't as much interest.

the 433gp?

There is a ebay listing somewhere. In any case, I know someone who sold one. (I'm still looking, HMU) It sold right away for around that. Another mention is the AMD k6-550 3+ it could go for $400+ last I looked. So even more expensive. Purely a collector piece though as the 570 2+ cpus can be modded now for a fraction of the price.

Yes, do you have some sort of sale history for the Cyrix MII-433GP at $300? I'm surprised the K6-III+ 550 would sell for more than the 433GP. A boat load of the K6-III+ 550 chips sold on CPU-World a year ago for $60 each, so the inventory is fairly high.

Even if the K6-2+ can be modded for full 256K, I think the collection value is in having an originally marked chip K6-III+ 550 chip. Since AMD K6-III+ chips can already run at 550-600 MHz, especially the -400ATZ, is there much desire to de-lid the 2+ chips to run them w/256K?

If you run across a 433gp lemme know.

I have a 550 3+ already 😀

You’ll have to google for the pricing thing

It was 50 pieces of NIB K6 III 550 that was found on eBay. It's not exactly a boatload.

For a rare CPU, I'd call that a sizeable influx. I'm not aware of a similar situation for the MII-433GP. My guess is the MII-433GP is more valuable, but I haven't come across much sales data.

Do you recall what the lot size was? Few dozen or few hundred?

Few dozen but it seems like there were several similar auctions at the same time from different sellers.

I bought a very strange uATX IBM labeled SIS540 motherboard from the same seller.

I started digging and haven’t found either the chip or board, I’m hoping it didn’t get sold or recycled in some of the lots of stuff I eliminated years ago

A 433gp and a sis 540 would be a pretty cool build.

The ali 7, mvp4 and 540 are rare motherboards.

I’d like to get my hands on some of those

I think rarity is different depending on what part of the world you are in. Here in Brazil I had a LOT of trouble finding a Pentium 4 3.8ghz. 3dfx are also very hard to find here (and expensive), but on the other hand, the Sega Master System, or MSX and its games are relatively plentiful and easy to find here (it seems to be harder in North America, so they told me)

...hard to define...

not even close, but honorable mention: Beside the Intel 486 DX2-50 there's also the DX-50 without the clock doubling, for 50 MHz FSB.
They get confused a lot and the DX-50 is very rare in comparison.

Also, I have many DX2-66, like everyone else. But one was, IIRC, produced in week 32 of 1992, which was, like, the third week of production.
No idea whether that adds any value to it but it feels nice to have an utterly trivial CPU, but someone paid through his teeth for it, back when it was still cutting edge. 😉

The DX-50 was only rare in comparison to the DX/2-50, but it's still just uncommon. I have three of them, and I didn't even go out of my way to get them. They just accumulated over the years from things I scrapped. But these days who knows. I would guess a lot of DX/2-50s have been ground into dust for gold simply because they are uninteresting and produced in large quantity.

The overdrive DX/2-40 was relatively common, but the plain version was indeed pretty rare. That was meant for portable devices, was it not? If that's the case, you'd only find them if you were salvaging laptops. At the time, a DX/2-40 on the desktop made close to no sense. But, then we have chips like the SX-16...
