Also ATi had many very good solutions in those times, probably one of their best period. Beside the final frame rate which might differ a lot from card to card, for early 2001 to 2003 period, I like the Radeon 8500 and 9500/9700 cards. They were fast enough and with many features. Of course it depends on the games and it might be useful to look for old cards reviews or ask in the forum which PC game would be the main target of the machine.
About the modern version of the 6000 and also other cards recreated, I suppose the cost could not easily be low cause looks like impressively complex projects to even design on paper not to mention find someone actually build them, I suppose in limited final build numbers. But like other similar projects I imagine more oriented to people that have a specific passion for that specific idea/hardware. I'd like to see many more of these modern hardware creation cause even cards that didn't exist can be designed for old hardware in a different layout.
