The topic is dedicated to my WIP of choosing configurations for Intel 430XX series systems.
I would be glad to advice what to choose (leave) and how to upgrade or configure the available goods.
Everything will work under DOS / Win98 / WinNT 4.0

1) Configuration #1 (WIP - 90% ready)
CPU - iP200MMX
Motherboard - Intel Tucson TC430HX, without integrated video card, sound Yamaha 719 OPL3 (no OPL4 chip)
RAM - 48Mb (SIMM 8 + 8 + 16 + 16 EDO)
Videocard - Ati Rage Pro 8Mb Xpert @ Work PCI
HDD (s) - Segate Medalist ST32122 2.1Gb - 2 pcs
ODD (s) - NEC DV-5800C (DVD-ROM), NEC NR-9500A (CD-RW)
Optional - Creative Labs PC-DVD Inlay Decoder Board CT7160
Case - Peacock Procida ATX

izobrazhenie_viber_2021-12-08_20-01-17-236.1640087778.jpg

Work in progress:
- replace the motherboard with an Intel TC430HX (Tucson) with an soldered S3 Virge 2MB video card (I wonder if it is possible to expand it to 4MB by hanging SOJs as a "sandwich")
- full version of the sound subsystem with OPL4?

As an option, to FIND and install an ISA MIDI soundtrack 1AUDINTL10028 (yes, a rare beast)

2) Configuration #2 (WIP - 60% ready)
CPU - iP200MMX
Motherboard - Fujitsu-Siemens D990, Crystal CS4238 sound (plus CS9236-CL MIDI wavetable installed already, tnx Aliexpress)
RAM - 128Mb (DIMM 64 + 64 SDRAM PC-100)
Videocard - Matrox Mystique PCI-onboard 2Mb + additional 2Mb memory module (tnx eBay.de)
HDD (s) - Fujitsu 2.6Gb + Fujitsu 10GB
ODD (s) - NEC ND-3520A (DVD-ROM), NEC NR-7900A (CD-RW)
Optional - Creative Labs PC-DVD Encore Dxr2 CT7120
Case - Siemens Scenic 800

Work in progress:
- replace the RAM with Siemens modules (purely aesthetic pleasure)
- in the documentation on the motherboard there is a mention of a proprietary modem with deep integration into the system (there is even a separate FaxSTUFF menu in the BIOS)
- to search (generally unrealistic ) a proprietary video input-output module for the integrated Siemens-Nixdorf D971 Multimedia Extension Board

3) Configuration #3 (WIP - 40% ready)
CPU - iP200MMX
Motherboard - Intel Advance / EV 430FX (built-in sound without a bracket, while (?) Is disabled in BIOS)
RAM - 64Mb (SIMM 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 EDO)
Videocard - Ati Rage Pro 8Mb Xpert @ Work PCI TV-OUT
HDD (s) - Segate Medalist ST32122 2.1Gb - 2 pcs
ODD (s) - haven't picked it up yet
Optional - Creative Labs PC-DVD Encore Dxr2 CT7120, Ensoniq Soundscape VIVO 90 sound card
Case - Texas Systems Full-Tower AT

Work in progress:
- the machine is in a constant process of updating (a kind of test bench)
- shouldn't it be combined with step 4 (in what configuration is a good question)?

4) Configuration #4 (WIP - 10% ready)
CPU - iP90
Motherboard - Intel Plato 430NX (with dead Dallas)
RAM - 32Mb (SIMM 16 + 16 EDO)
Videocard - Cirrus Logic CL5434
HDD (s) - not picked up yet
ODD (s) - not picked up yet
Case - OEM Intel Desktop (clearly optimized for installing Intel Batman / Plato / Advanced AT motherboards)

Work in progress:
- repair Dallas CMOS IC
- clean all dust and rust
- maybe combine with Configuration #3?

Lovely systems! I'd add networking cards to all of them for easy file transfer and inviting friends over for a 90s LAN party 😀 do you have enough peripherals and monitors to set them all up at once?

What could really set each system apart is the sound capability. So there would be a Soundblaster system, Gravis Ultrasound, Roland Sound Canvas, Pro Audio Spectrum, etc.

Yeah! Sometime they will be connected.
Sorry... No 3Dfx, or pop-soundcards (such as Creative, Roland or PAS)- its not my interest.
Maybe PowerVR accelerator 😀

No-no, I remove it!
No tweaks, overclock or overvolting.
Just stock and accelerators)))
