What about one of the sound card projects people around here are making? Orpheus, and others.

The comprehensive list of all modern reproductions of vintage sound cards

After evaluating all of the sound (get it??) suggestions and reviews here and otherwise, I've gone ahead and put in my order for the MK8830. This card scratches all the right itches, and I think it fits in perfectly with my upcoming 1997 build. It will be complimented with the DreamBlaster X2GS (which I already own). The AWE32 returns to the bench.

Thanks everyone!!!!

I like how it has a pc104 header. Do you plan on using it?

No plans, and that is mostly because I don't have knowledge (or the imagination for this case) to know whether I should be making plans! What are some good ideas?

Pc104 is basically a isa slot

You can plug stuff into it. Maybe even another pc104 sound card. If you can’t find one for sale I believe there’s a PCB project around this

If there are remaining boxes to be checked in your plan you may be able to accomplish them with this.

Unless there is some kind of crazy Voodoo PC104 from 1997 of which I am not aware, I have all of the parts I need. Thanks!

Well, voodoo is pci native, so probably not gonna happen even if you designed the pcb.

Glad to hear you got it figured out! 😀

Looking forward to pics and how it went!
