I installed drivers for a Nvidia GeForce 200 MX GPU however the computer acts wonky. It can use True Color mode but the screen savers cause illegal operations and DirectX does not detect a 3D accelerator but does see the card. I am using the 81.98 driver version for Nvidia. The computer can run Sonic 3 and Fallout 1 fine, I have not bothered with any 3D games until I fix this issue. Any information would help. Thanks!

Update: tried Quake II, game ran at lowest resolution and the sound was beyond awful.

Those drivers are too new for the card that you're using.

Uninstall the existing Nvidia drivers via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs then install 12.41 drivers. This is the Win9x version, which I'm assuming is the OS that you're running.
