This ESS 1688f ISA sound card has ES968f and QDSP chips on it. See attached photos of the card.

I can't get the DOS ES1688 driver downloaded from vogonsdrivers to work on 486 PC running DOS 7.10. I get 'unable to find ES688, ES1688 or ES1788' with ESSCFG.exe. which driver should I use? Did I get the jumpers right?

Also, there is a power port next to spkr out?!

With the jumper settings i managed to get the FM Sound Blaster compatible to work. But similar to the related post above, can't seem to get the midi MPU401 to work.

Maybe I need the latest ES968.com.

I think i finally got the internal and external wavetable to work. Guessing the jumper settings (no manual) and using esscfg.exe, essvol.exe , plus device in config.sys for es968.com. Make sure the synth vol is set > 0 when using internal wavetable.
