Hi,

I have some Pentium 1 machines which are limited to 6GB for their HDDs and would like to use XTIDE to allow them to use HDDs of greater capacities.

I have a stock of 3C590C NICs (PCI) which have a DIP-32 ROM socket but I don't know which kind of EEPROM I should use on those.

I see there are some different models like 28F256, 29C010, 27C010 which have a similar but not quite identical pinout. Can any of those models be used?

I could use ISA NICs which have a DIP-28 ROM socket (because I have some spare W27C512) but unfortunately all ISA ports on those Pentiums are already used by sound cards.

Thanks,
Xavier

I've had luck with a 27C010 in one of my PCI nics. You might also be able to use a DIP-28 ROM, with the 28 pin chip having the un-notched side at the un-notched end of the socket.

Thank you, I tried putting a W27C512 (28 pins) like you said in the DIP-32 socket and it worked! 👍
