Hello!

I just wanted to post my progress on this laptop. I got given this one a few years ago now from my grandad. It had the software for the company he used to work for but about a year ago, the hard drive stopped working properly. It spins up fine but hangs on boot up on the laptop, then the laptop gives up trying to read from it and tells me that no disk is installed but I'll have a loom at that another time.

The floppy drive in the laptop is also faulty, I think the belt has turned to mush so that needs repairing but I have an external PCMCIA drive that I can use if I can get the drivers loaded.

I just checked today that I seemed to have previously removed the battery that can leak from the board, the NIMH backup battery which is good! And the main battery pack somehow holds a little bit of charge! I haven't had it on long enough to charge up to maybe power on but it holds enough charge to attempt to power on and display a little clock in the LCD icons panel when off charge.

I'm planning on buying a CF to IDE adapter to use instead of a HDD and will probably get a 2gb or so CF card to use. I also will probably get a PCMCIA to CF adapter and a USB to CF adapter to I can (hopefully) transfer files between computers.
