Haha thx.

When I release them I call them pi.0, pi.1, etc 🤣

FREEWAY DESIGN FW Ti5VGF 1 3 3 V Adapterv3.1415.zipokay, I have version 3.1415 of the pcb ready.

this is for the non ultra

the ultra version requires a modification to the atx location

-removed the vsb disconnect

-fixed the solder bridge configuration

-raised the atx location just a tad

-came up with a new edge cut layout

this is probably a final version, but currently I don't have a plan to prototype it anytime soon, lots of other stuff to do on other things in my life, so if someone wants to try it out go for it. just be careful.

eventually I'll modify this for the ultra

developments in the "adding 3.3v to pci" thread are going to lead to another version it looks like.

Recommend anyone interested in the 3.3v boge board to wait for next version.

Both will work this is probably the best way though.

The bulk filtering caps are handy

FREEWAY DESIGN FW Ti5VGF 1 3 3 V Adapter pi.0.zipI'm gonna order this. confidence is high. graduating to pi.0

It seems that a lot of nets are unrouted in that zip???

Also it's visible on your last image, where ratsnests are visible?

It’s okay. Those are on purpose. 😀

3.3v vsb is on purpose

3.3v/5v hybrid pins are no longer routed on this design. That layer is now used for ground pins

Fitment looks good. Made some minor adjustments to previous upload. Previous post is now updated. I want this to be 100% perfect for this rare motherboard so I’ll probably order another batch to satisfy my ocd. 😀 The main problem was that the freeway logo was backwards 🤣

Btw, I’ve done some more testing with various ram sticks recently. And have come to the conclusion that for most people in most situations single sided ram sticks are most ideal for this motherboard.

And a little tidbit of information is that the board seems to only have address lines for 128mb per side. As it reports wrong sizes when 256mb or 512mb per side is used.

So maximum supported is 768mb.

1.5gb, 3gb doesn’t appear to be possible.

Well, looks like a success!

In the following images you’ll see results in bottom slot, and in top slot.

The top slot is currently the only one soldered up. The rest are free floating. Wanted to test before finishing up. 😀

A note, be sure to push down on the pcb near where you are soldering. Otherwise the bodge board will float.

Also, I put kapton tape over the bulk capacitor vias. (Not pictured)

Gigabyte iRam is working!

The 3.3v aux light on the diag card I assume will light if I hook up 3.3v vsb but I left it unconnected.

I would imagine that the iRam might actually use that, so I may connect it later.

Okay, now that the bugs are all ironed out of that. I will soon make the ultra version. Going to require shifting the atx power over slightly. This should be the only required change. Aside from changing the model displayed on the pcb of course.

If I get around to experimenting with different capacitors and find ideal values I will let you all know. None of the other 3.3v power adder projects I have seen have bothered to incorporate capacitors btw and they all seem to be working. So if you want to use them the pads are there. 😀

What about including your AGP Power Improver in that PCB?

It isn’t ready for prime time yet.

Also, this motherboard doesn’t appear to have much problems with agp cards.

What do you use the iRAM for? As a swap drive?

I could never find a desirable use case for one of these on modern systems. At 4GB max, I would rather use that slot for an ATA133 with a fast UDMA card or a SATA adapter with a large SSD.

I think they were more desirable way back when consumer HDDs were the norm and SSDs weren't really a thing.

It’s for a swap file. Since using a ssd, can’t use swap on the ssd, so put it on the ram of the iRam.

I mean, I have enough ram that it doesn’t need a swap file, but you know, having fun, building cool crazy stuff. 😀
