Thanks for doing that shock, I'll order some interwaves off you in a few days when I'm cashed up. (if you have any small lots left to list)

I have had a few people contacting me about the boards. If you want to be part of the new batch, please contact me on:
david.e.larsson, and at you know, the very common mail domain of that large search engine. Yes, that is, gmail.com.
I'll stick to $150 + $12 international shipping for this batch. I still see it as a test batch. I might have to increase the price somewhat (a few tens of bucks) for the next batches.

ARGUS gerbers delayed once again (as always) 😉
I know it's basically a 5 minute job, but kinda stressed out in another aspect of my life and I don't wanna upload junk.
Hi Shock!
Just wanted to say thank you for your incredible work on these boards. I would probably not have been able to do this from scratch (at least not within another year or two!), so I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the ground work you have done here. I did a few modifications of the board, but most of the design is thanks to you.
It might sound silly but it is actually really touching to see how happy some people get when they get to buy these things. For some it's like reliving happy moments of their childhood. For others, it's more of a childhood dream coming true. And I'm really happy to be part of it! 😀

You know, you shouldn't be openly pointing that out here, and it probably shouldn't be posted there, either. That was never publicly released content, and at least two of the rights-holders are still in business. If one of them is still reading along here, you can expect a copyright claim to make that disappear quite promptly now.

The sudden massive purchase of these masked IW78C21M1 ROMs and Interwave ICs is due to the fact that some of the sound cards hobby makers from adjacent vogons topics still see sufficient commercial potential in their projects. The market deficit created increases their chance to sell their assembled cards. It is highly doubtful that "copyright holders" are bothered to protect a 30 years' old design meant for ISA bus vintage computers that was soon defeated by Creative competition back in the day. This ROM dump should be available for those who are assembling their single sound cards.

Doubtful or not matters little in regards to protecting IP and copyright, either they protect it or they lose it., its the same with trademarks you either protect it like its fort knox or you will end up losing that trademark.
Yes I know thats pretty stupid to the average user but its how the current system works, so in regards to the copyrighted works its simply best to not talk about them at all if they are out in the wild.

Firstly, I highly doubt that anything done in the context of this hobby qualifies as "massive" in the context of these chip producers and vendors. Even the originator of the DreamBlaster line of products refers to his efforts as "small-batch" products. Several people have been ignored by Creative when trying to obtain details about pricing or availability for EMU8k-era chips, etc.

Again, your opinion that their copyrighted data should be freely available for the assembly of a single card or small number of cards does not change the rights of the originators of those data. Even at 30+ years, they still hold valid copyrights. Furthermore, the same wave data have evolved over time, and still form the basis for services and consulting contracts being offered today. To suggest that we can simply upload them somewhere and use them as we please is nonsensical in itself, but there are even those who would write the very same data to a flash chip, then sell the assembled cards for their own profit. "I designed the card, why shouldn't I make some money for my efforts?!", some will ask. Well, the person who spent the time to create those wave data is entitled to ask the same question. Do you like to work for free?
This should not be openly discussed, as the forum owners do not want this sort of legal trouble, and nobody should be encouraging this behaviour, anyhow. Lastly, all that will be required to prove to you that the copyrights are still enforceable is for the above-mentioned people to still be reading this thread. A simple copyright claim will make the data disappear in a hurry.
🤣 commercial potential.
Even if one would sell them as new commercial product, he would hardly gain enough to cover daily living costs.

I have worked many times for free (even for vogons!). Sometimes work gives pleasure but has no commercial potential.
Copyright law is the main thing that significantly retards the human race's advancing (this is my copyrighted conclusion 😉 ). The informational product has to be strong enough to protect itself.
The massive term was used as relative to the available number of ICs that were stuck in stores for decades.

Yeah right 🤣, no one cares about software preservation on archive dot org. It's a very important site for humanity. And if anyone did have a problem it'll just get uploaded again. This is not 1980 the days of hanging onto copyright for no reason are long long over.

Let me be more clear: my initial response to you was meant as a friendly reminder that you are not allowed to openly promote downloading of copyrighted data on this forum (remember those rules to which you agreed when you registered?). It was meant for you to notice your mistake and edit your post to remove the offending content. Since you instead insist on doubling down on your previous behaviour, I will leave it for the moderators to deal with the matter if/when they find it.

I will say only that we agree about some things, after all. However, given current copyright law, we don't agree on how the copyrighted work of others should be handled.

You're not a mod and it's not your place to enforce the forum rules. Get over yourself

You're right; I have no authority to enforce anything, but that doesn't mean that I can't remind a fellow forum user of the rules, in hopes of avoiding problems for the forum owners. It is a tremendously valuable community (mostly), and it would be a shame to have it end up even more locked down because people feel entitled to copy/use whatever they want right out in the open.

I'm actually allowed to do whatever I want in my life. If a post gets deleted I don't care, if a file gets deleted I don't care. If I get banned from a forum I don't care. All I've ever cared about in my life is doing morally correct things and helping my fellow people and preserving humanitys creations. If you are not into any of this.. again I don't care.
Holy shit. Children, calm down.

As long as it is censored moreover by incompetent but authorized individuals it is not valuable at all! It even has negative effect on free minded young people.
As an anarchist ... we're not talking about censorship, but instead digging one of our own graves here 😉
Having a freedom centered mind is cool and liberating oneself is awesome ... but it's not a free society we live in, we should at least be aware of that.
I mean ... I'm not posting porn on here, even tho I theoretically could.

Thanks for the gerbers shock!
My interwave chips are almost here (in Dallas, I'm in Austin), so now I just need to get things printed and source some other parts.
Oh, and pull down that rom dump, which I have done.
