traces on the mobo are running over ground plane, is that adapter 4 layer? That is a scary amount of thin traces close together to be routed without ground. Adding load to the bus attenuates interference picked up from surrounding signals, but also weakens original proper ones so is a double edged sword. There isnt even any decoupling for CPU power near the socket.
I wasnt joking when I said its black magic. "High Speed Digital Design: A Handbook Of Black Magic" https://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/4658028 isnt a meme, and neither is the sequel "High-speed Signal Propagation: Advanced Black Magic" https://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/5427843
